Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kyung Yeon Kang (ranked 7122 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daisuke Hazuki (ranked 7071 p4p, 0 weight class). Kyung Yeon Kang could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Daisuke Hazuki's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Kyung Yeon Kang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daisuke Hazuki!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Reed Andrews and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hazuki fails to land the takedown.
Kang appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Kang gets a double leg takedown into Hazuki's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Hazuki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hazuki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hazuki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kang doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kang manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hazuki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kang is aware though and is defending well.

Hazuki looking for a sweep. Not yet Hazuki, not yet.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hazuki is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kang keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Kang knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hazuki on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hazuki is trying to control. Kang wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Hazuki is looking to take a break and control but Kang is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hazuki is looking to advance position but Kang won't allow it.
Hazuki seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kang does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hazuki is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kang has managed to free his arm - good work.

Hazuki wants to work for an arm triangle but Kang is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Kang defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hazuki.
Hazuki shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kang but Kang pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kyung Yeon Kang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daisuke Hazuki.

Kang attempts a counter takedown but Hazuki avoids it well and moves away.

Kang shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hazuki manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Hazuki manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Kang is breathing heavily.

Kang gets control of Hazuki's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kang will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Hazuki seems to be looking for submissions.
Hazuki throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Hazuki thows a huge punch but Kang dodges it nicely.

Hazuki is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Hazuki works his foot free and advances to mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kang is desperately trying to improve his position but Hazuki has a good base and remains in mount.
Kang is squirming around, avoiding Hazuki's attempts to control the action.
Hazuki throws a wild left hand from mount and Kang manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Daisuke Hazuki dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hazuki tries a head kick but it misses.

Kang closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hazuki's guard.

Hazuki has his foot on Kang's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kang works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Hazuki dives in and grabs Kang's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kang pushes down on Hazuki's head and hops out.
Kyung Yeon Kang is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hazuki has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Kang is trying to keep an underhook but Hazuki manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Hazuki uses his free foot to push down on Kang's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kang.

Hazuki has control of Kang's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kang regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Hazuki throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Kang because Hazuki loaded up on that one.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hazuki goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Kang is on top in guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hazuki is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Kang pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Daisuke Hazuki will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Kang throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Hazuki shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kang as he avoids it easily.
Hazuki shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kang defends it nicely.
Kang avoids the body shot from Hazuki.
Hazuki darts in looking for a takedown but Kang gets double underhooks and turns Hazuki into the cage.
Kyung Yeon Kang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daisuke Hazuki.

Kang has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hazuki clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hazuki tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Hazuki tries to hold on but Kang pushes him away.
Hazuki sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Kang thows a huge punch but Hazuki dodges it nicely.
Hazuki manages to get to full guard.
Hazuki throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Hazuki looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hazuki is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hazuki avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hazuki tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Kang throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Hazuki holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Hazuki drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kang gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Hazuki has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kang avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Hazuki can't get the takedown.
Hazuki drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kang pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kang tries to clinch but Hazuki is having none of it.
Hazuki shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kang defends it nicely.
No luck for Hazuki with that takedown attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kang tries to close the distance and clinch but Hazuki swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Kang ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kang no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Hazuki wants to control from the top but Kang keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kyung Yeon Kang.
I think Hazuki has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
