PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Chang (ranked 1609 p4p, 191 weight class) and Kimmo Kehveli (ranked 3128 p4p, 329 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kimmo Kehveli was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pedro Chang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kimmo Kehveli!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kehveli looks to clinch
and Chang counters with a stiff right hand.
Kehveli misses with a straight left.
Chang wants to clinch up but Kehveli keeps it at a distance.
Kehveli lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Chang misses with a leg kick

and Kehveli counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Kehveli wants to take the fight to the mat but Chang manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Kehveli is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Chang is defending well.
Kehveli is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Chang to keep the fight standing.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kehveli has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Kehveli shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Chang is trying to defend but Kehveli finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Chang is looking to control Kehveli's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Chang avoid being mounted?
Kehveli wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chang keeps working.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kehveli is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Chang defends it well.

Chang closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kehveli looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chang is fending him off so far but Kehveli persists. Nope, Chang circles away and we're back to standing.
And Chang counters with a quick kick to the body but Kehveli blocks it.

It looked like Chang was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kehveli.

That was a close second round but I would say that Pedro Chang will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Kehveli ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chang moves away.
Kehveli tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chang was well out of range. Poor timing from Kehveli.

Chang fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kehveli on the side of the head.
Kehveli throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Chang stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Nice takedown defense from Chang. No joy for Kehveli on that attempt.

Chang on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Chang bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kehveli wants to clinch up but Chang keeps it at a distance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chang shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Danga de danga de dang - Kehveli scores with a four punch combination!
Kehveli fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chang avoids it really well and circles away.

Chang's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kehveli connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Chang scrambles back to his feet.

Kehveli advances to mount.
Chang is squirming around, avoiding Kehveli's attempts to control the action.

Kehveli jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Chang is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Chang and Kehveli has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Kehveli wants to control but Chang is keeping him busy.
Chang is trying to buck Kehveli off.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Kimmo Kehveli.
I think Kehveli has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
