PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between TwoPiece Soda (ranked 5155 p4p, 465 weight class) and Rocky Falcone (ranked 6386 p4p, 498 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Falcone misses with the combination.
Soda tries to counter by clinching up but Falcone breaks away and moves out of range.
Falcone thuds a left hand into Soda's body.

Falcone gets caught flat footed, as Soda shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Falcone holds on and takes a little breather.
Falcone is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Soda is really struggling to control Falcone but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Soda distracts Falcone with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Soda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Falcone swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Falcone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Soda. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Soda takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Soda looks to score with a jab to the body but Falcone is just out of range.
Falcone lands an overhand right.
Falcone fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Soda manages to avoid it.
Soda is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Falcone.
Soda closes the distance and clinches up with Falcone, looking for a takedown. Soda pushes Falcone against the cage but Falcone circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Falcone looks to land a right hand but Soda moved out of range.
Falcone displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Soda.
Falcone unleashes a big counter combination but Soda bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Falcone throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Soda counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Soda drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Soda jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Soda is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Falcone is just riding it out for now. Soda eventually gives up the hold.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Falcone can do anything to dispel that myth.
Soda wants to lay and pray for a moment but Falcone keeps working.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that TwoPiece Soda will probably get the nod.
That's time! Soda's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Falcone ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Soda moves away.
Soda wants to clinch.
A right-left combo lands from Falcone.
Soda shoots in looking for a takedown. Falcone tries to sprawl out of it but Soda keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Falcone manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
TwoPiece Soda is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Soda gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Falcone counters with a two punch combo.
No joy there for Falcone, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Falcone connects with a single shot there.
Falcone throws a right and a left that Soda avoids nicely.
Falcone throws a jab when Soda was well out of range.
Rocky Falcone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Soda closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Falcone is not content to let Soda control the position.
Falcone has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Soda passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Falcone!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Soda has control of Falcone's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Falcone regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Soda lands a nice shot to the head.

Soda is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Falcone is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Falcone flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Soda anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Falcone and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Soda slips an arm under Falcone chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Soda has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Soda is squeezing on Falcone like an anaconda would it's prey. Falcone fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
