The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Webb has his takedown stuffed
and Rutten counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Webb gets the takedown into side control.

Webb is trying to get an arm triangle but Rutten is defending well.
Rutten controls the position for a moment.
Webb landing strikes.

It looks like Sebastian Rutten has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rutten tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Webb tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Rutten is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Rutten keeps Webb under control for a moment.
Rutten felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
You can see the frustration on Rutten's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Webb looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Webb has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rutten gets back to half guard.
Webb thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rutten's head.

Webb is looking for a kimura but Rutten is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Webb to get the leverage.
Webb thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
