Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Kappa (ranked 1704 p4p, 212 weight class) and Guillo Perez (ranked 3907 p4p, 414 weight class). Guillo Perez is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Kappa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Guillo Perez !
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kappa, right into the meat.
A telegraphed right hand from Kappa misses the target.
Perez tries to counter with a clinch but Kappa shakes him off and moves away.
Perez 's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kappa connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Perez scrambles back to his feet.
Perez shoots in looking for a takedown but Kappa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Perez 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A telegraphed right hand from Perez misses the target.
Kappa looks to land a right hand but Perez moved out of range.
Kappa walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Perez ducks under a wild hook from Kappa.
Kappa tries to land a front kick but Perez steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Nice jab there from Kappa.
Kappa dodges the punch combination from Perez .
Kappa swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Kappa throws a jab but it's blocked by Perez .
Perez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kappa is fending him off so far but Perez persists. Nope, Kappa circles away and we're back to standing.
Kappa displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Perez .
Kappa definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
David Kappa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Guillo Perez .
Perez tries to clinch but Kappa moves out of range.

Perez feints and as Kappa raises his hands in defense, Perez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Perez has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kappa.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kappa.
Perez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kappa throws a shot from downtown. Perez moves away and avoids it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kappa. Perez does a little dance to reset his feet.

Kappa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Perez is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Kappa tries a low kick but Perez avoids it.
Perez changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Perez shoots in looking for a takedown but Kappa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Perez 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kappa connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Kappa lands a nice hook to Perez 's body. Perez takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Perez moves into range and clinches up with Kappa.
Kappa has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Kappa blocks a head kick by Perez .
It looked like Kappa wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Perez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kappa quickly recovers to half guard.

Perez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kappa is staying active underneath Perez , who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Perez tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kappa knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Perez decides to stand up.

Perez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kappa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kappa looks to land a combination but Perez avoids it well.
Perez is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Kappa with a body shot.
Kappa scores with a jab to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Kappa dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Kappa gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kappa swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kappa lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Perez darts in looking for a takedown but Kappa gets double underhooks and turns Perez into the cage.
Kappa is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Kappa looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Perez puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Perez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Perez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Perez is looking to take a break and control but Kappa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kappa is looking to control Perez 's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kappa avoid being mounted?

and Kappa counters with a nice low kick that buckles Perez 's knee momentarily.
A nice inside leg kick there by Kappa. That's going to slow Perez down.
Perez 's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Perez walks into a jab.
Kappa is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Perez .
Perez misses with a body kick.

Perez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kappa sprawls well initially but Perez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Perez seems to be looking for submissions.
Kappa keeping control of the position.

Perez is looking to advance position but Kappa won't allow it.
Kappa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kappa keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to David Kappa.
I think Kappa has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
