PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Kerr (ranked 415 p4p, 56 weight class) and Dmitri Zaitsev (ranked 457 p4p, 61 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Kerr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dmitri Zaitsev!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zaitsev looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Kerr wants to control the position but Zaitsev says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Kerr wants to sweep but Zaitsev has passed to side control!
Kerr is looking to regain half guard here but Zaitsev keeps moving and retains side control.
Zaitsev misses with the ground and pound.
Zaitsev looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Kerr is avoiding damage well.
Zaitsev creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Kerr manages to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zaitsev landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Zaitsev is trying to control. Kerr wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kerr makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kerr.
Kerr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Zaitsev moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Zaitsev is trying to keep Kerr in close.

Kerr controlling from the top position.
Zaitsev is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kerr wants to pass the guard but Zaitsev is keeping the position.
Kerr postures up and lands a big shot to Zaitsev's brow.
Kerr wants to control from the top but Zaitsev keeps moving.
Kerr is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Zaitsev is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Kerr tries to free his leg and advance position but Zaitsev is retaining full guard.

Zaitsev manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Zaitsev is looking to improve his position.
Zaitsev works his way to full guard. Good work.
Zaitsev keeping moving, preventing Kerr from controlling successfully.
Zaitsev is trying to control the position but Kerr postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kerr cracks Zaitsev with a solid left hand.
Zaitsev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kerr's guard.

Kerr lands a nice shot to the head.
Kerr tries to control but Zaitsev wriggling away.
Zaitsev tries to reverse the position but Kerr maintains control.
Zaitsev wants to control but Kerr is having none of it.
Zaitsev is wriggling around trying to escape.

Kerr trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kerr lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kerr lands a big shot there that rocks Zaitsev but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
A big strike lands for Kerr! That's really hurt Zaitsev and he's turned his back - Kerr keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Kerr jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Kerr!
A very excited looking Mark Kerr rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
