PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tedy DD (ranked 5607 p4p, 192 weight class) and Tedy EE (ranked 5177 p4p, 183 weight class). Tedy EE will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tedy DD!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tedy EE!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
EE stuffs the takedown attempt from DD. DD gets slowly back to his feet.

DD clinches up against the cage.
DD is trying to pull guard but EE turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
EE wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
EE has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by DD after a bit of a struggle.
DD will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning EE up against the cage.
DD is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tedy DD. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
DD can't find room to land a body shot as EE controls the action.

EE decides to pull guard.
DD throwing strikes from guard but EE blocks nicely.
EE trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
DD wants to stand but EE is controlling his posture from full guard.
DD is fighting to break EE's control of his arms but EE is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
EE is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst DD is controlling him.

EE has his foot on DD's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. DD works his way back into a safe position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
EE keeping moving, preventing DD from controlling successfully.
EE bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in DD's guard.


DD throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! EE escapes and throws DD's legs to the side, diving into side control!

EE decides to stand back up. EE steps back and let's DD get back to his feet.
DD rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and EE counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

DD fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with EE, pushing him back against the cage.
DD stalls.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
EE tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

EE pulls guard.
EE trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
EE tries to land a sweep but no joy.
EE has his hands on DD's head, controlling the position.

DD got a little sloppy there for a moment and EE has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, DD has managed to get both his arms back between EE's legs - danger averted.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
EE is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

EE slows the pace down in half guard.
DD avoiding damage under a succession of punches from EE.

EE stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

EE has managed to clinch.
EE has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tedy EE dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


EE just misses with a punch to the body.
DD shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has EE pinned against the cage. EE gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

DD rushes EE and presses him up against the cage.

DD manages to break the clinch.
DD fails with an attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
EE stuffs the takedown.
EE is looking to chop away at DD's legs.
DD throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
EE fails with the takedown
and DD counters with a nice low kick that buckles EE's knee momentarily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters circling - DD throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
EE fails in his attempt to clinch.
EE stuffs the takedown attempt from DD. DD gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tedy DD. That's going to take a lot out of him.
DD stuffs the takedown attempt from EE. EE gets slowly back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from EE.
EE shoots in looking for a takedown. DD tries to sprawl out of it but EE keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. DD manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
EE dives in and grabs DD's left leg, looking for a takedown. DD pushes down on EE's head and hops out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
EE shoots for a double leg takedown but DD sprawls well. He's pushed EE's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
EE is breathing heavily.
DD shoots in looking for a takedown but EE manages to keep the fight standing, pushing DD's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from DD.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from DD is defended easily by EE.
EE shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has DD pinned against the cage. DD gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
DD looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
EE is looking to clinch.
EE tries to clinch but fails miserably
and DD counters with a slapping leg kick.
EE walks forward, straight into a front kick from DD.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
EE on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by DD. DD obviously looking to wear him down.

DD gets in close and instigates a clinch.
EE has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
DD prevents EE from breaking the clinch.
DD tries to score a body lock takedown but EE shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
EE jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as DD walks away with a smile on his face. EE gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
DD misses with a series of wild punches.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from EE! But no joy.
DD fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and EE has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
EE throws a sloppy head kick and DD moves out of range easily.
EE keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
EE changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
EE is trying hard to land a takedown here. DD sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Tedy DD is winning the standup battle so far.
EE closes this distance looking for a takedown but DD circles away.
DD fails to land with a series of punches.
EE avoids a punch combination nicely.
EE leaves DD with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
EE throws a sloppy head kick and DD moves out of range easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
EE tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but DD paws at him with a jab and circles away.
EE doesn't manage to clinch there - DD circles away.
DD throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around EE's waist but EE gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing DD off to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tedy DD dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


DD shoots in looking for a takedown. EE tries to sprawl out of it but DD keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. EE manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
EE feints a counter leg kick.
EE throws a right and a left that DD avoids nicely.
DD shoots in looking for a takedown but EE manages to keep the fight standing, pushing DD's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
EE shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts DD as he jumps to the side.
DD is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from EE.
DD is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
EE tries to score a power double leg takedown but DD sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten EE somewhat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fight stays on the outside here - DD looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
DD bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
EE swings and misses with a shot to the body

and DD counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
DD stops EE from standing up.

EE looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
EE takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

EE is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. DD presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
EE tries for a takedown. No joy.
Tedy DD has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tedy EE.

DD breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

DD has EE up against the cage in a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
EE lands on the inside with an uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

DD pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
EE shoots in looking for a takedown but DD manages to keep the fight standing, pushing EE's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nice body punch from DD.

DD gets in close and instigates a clinch.
EE tries to break the clinch but DD is controlling the position.
DD jumps guard but EE turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
DD drops down looking for an ankle pick but EE pulls his leg out and moves away.

DD looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

DD is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, EE has managed to free his arm - good work.
Tedy EE has got the better of the ground game so far.
DD trying to control from EE's half guard. EE has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
EE is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

EE is controlling the pace.
DD knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for EE on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
DD wants to get back to his feet.
DD might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
EE is trying to control. DD wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
DD tries to regain full guard. Instead though, EE has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Tedy EE.
I think EE has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
