PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ken Robinson (ranked 415 p4p, 60 weight class) and Rick Ambe (ranked 1147 p4p, 147 weight class). Ambe has chosen MASTER P - REPO as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ken Robinson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rick Ambe!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Robinson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Robinson wants to control from the top but Ambe keeps moving.

Robinson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ambe keeping moving, preventing Robinson from controlling successfully.

Ken Robinson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Robinson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Robinson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ambe's waist but Ambe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Robinson off to one side.
Robinson goes for a double leg but Ambe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ambe continues to drive forward.

Robinson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ambe sprawls well. Ambe wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Robinson gets slowly back to his feet.
Ambe wants to counter with a clinch but Robinson pushes him away.
We've been informed that Ambe has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Robinson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ambe connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Robinson scrambles back to his feet.

Ambe has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Robinson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ambe stacks Robinson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ambe!
Ambe is looking to take a break and control but Robinson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ambe scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Ambe winds up and cracks Robinson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ambe connects with a nice short shot to Robinson's temple.

Ambe leaves Robinson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Robinson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ambe tries to avoid it but Robinson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ambe to the ground. Ambe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Robinson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ambe as he avoids it easily.

Robinson looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Rick Ambe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ambe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
