PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Edwards (ranked 4889 p4p, 448 weight class) and Danny Madd (ranked 4851 p4p, 446 weight class). Madd has chosen I'm Going Slightly Mad as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Danny Madd!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and James Ackerman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madd stuffs the takedown attempt from Edwards. Edwards gets slowly back to his feet.
Edwards dodges the punch combination from Madd.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Madd enables Edwards to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Madd manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Edwards throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Madd works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Edwards stands and throws Madd's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Edwards trying to control the position but Madd is working away.
Edwards misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Edwards landing a few strikes.
Madd is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Edwards asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Edwards is looking to take a break and control but Madd is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Edwards has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee asks Edwards politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Edwards prefers to stall for the moment though.

Edwards stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Danny Madd is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Edwards fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Madd avoids it really well and circles away.

Edwards takes the fight into the clinch.
Madd landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Edwards is breathing heavily.
Madd lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Edwards backwards.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Edwards has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Madd lands a shoulder strike.
A nice right hand lands inside from Madd.

It looks like Mark Edwards has been cut.
Madd unloads a knee to the mid-section. Edwards lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Madd.
Madd lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Edwards is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Madd drops Edwards onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Edwards is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Oh Edwards is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Madd dips a shoulder and cracks Edwards with a mighty uppercut! Edwards falls back against the cage and Madd unloads with a barrage of strikes! Edwards is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Madd screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Danny Madd!
A less than humble Danny Madd misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
