PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harold Shipman (ranked 1537 p4p, 189 weight class) and Jan Paul Valens (ranked 1346 p4p, 167 weight class). Shipman comes to the cage accompanied by I'll beat yo ass.. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Harold Shipman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jan Paul Valens!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shipman on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
A swing and a miss from Shipman.
Shipman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Valens.
Shipman has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Coffee Shop in the buildup to the fight.
Shipman misses the jab.
Shipman moves out of range of the strikes.
Valens pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd cheers as Shipman lands an impressive looking overhand right. Valens doesn't seem phased though.


It looks like Jan Paul Valens has been cut.
Valens looks to land a body kick but Shipman moved away.
Shipman swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Valens throws an off balance right hand
and Shipman counters with a nice uppercut.
We've been informed that Valens has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Valens misses with a body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shipman misses with a looping right.
A chopping leg kick lands by Valens.
Shipman checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
A big left from Valens misses.
It looked like Shipman was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Valens.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Valens throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Shipman swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Valens throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
It looked like Shipman wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Shipman tests Valens's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Valens misses with a few strikes there.
Shipman takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Shipman tries to move into range but Valens moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Valens throws a wild body kick that Shipman sees coming a mile off.
Valens throws a lazy right hand but Shipman sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Valens misses with a jab to the body
and Shipman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Valens pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Valens thuds a left hand into Shipman's body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shipman throws a hook but Valens avoids it easily.
Valens throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Valens clobbers Shipman with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Shipman gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Valens jabs Shipman to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Valens delivers a nice body kick.
Shipman looks to land a right hand but Valens moved out of range.
Shipman paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Valens scores with a jab. Shipman acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
A low kick from Valens is predictable there
and Shipman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Valens looks to land a left hand but Shipman moved out of range nicely.
Valens misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Shipman counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


That has opened up Jan Paul Valens's cut even more.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Valens throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


Shipman is rocked!


It looks like Harold Shipman has been cut.
Valens drops Shipman with a huge uppercut! Shipman drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Valens is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jan Paul Valens!
During a confident post fight interview, Jan Paul Valens thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
