Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Sandoval (ranked 3274 p4p, 290 weight class) and Walker Smith (ranked 3366 p4p, 294 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Miguel Sandoval!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Walker Smith!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sandoval doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Sandoval takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Sandoval misses with a left hand
and Smith connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Smith has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Sandoval is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Sandoval tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smith was well out of range. Poor timing from Sandoval.

Smith thuds his right hand into Sandoval's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Smith throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

We've been hearing reports that Sandoval has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sandoval swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sandoval is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sandoval has escaped and now he's on top!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.

Walker Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Miguel Sandoval decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
