Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryohei Horie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Magomedsaid Omarov!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Omarov closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Horie's guard.
Horie has momentary wrist control but Omarov slips an elbow through the middle.
Omarov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Omarov cracks Horie with a solid left hand.
Horie utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Horie working for a triangle but Omarov defends it easily.
Omarov lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Horie has momentary wrist control but Omarov slips an elbow through the middle.
Omarov distracts Horie with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Omarov's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Horie is rocked!
Omarov postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Oh Horie is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Omarov is in close to Horie's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Omarov with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Omarov loads up on a big left hand. Horie felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Omarov looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Horie can't hide his disappointment, as Omarov celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Magomedsaid Omarov!
