Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tim Armstrong (ranked 23334 p4p, 541 weight class) and Mikey Gonzalez (ranked 4990 p4p, 451 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tim Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mikey Gonzalez!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Armstrong shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gonzalez's guard.
Gonzalez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Armstrong controls the pace.
Gonzalez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Armstrong. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Armstrong working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Gonzalez pulls Armstrong in close to prevent any damage.
Armstrong sitting in guard here, content to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Armstrong seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gonzalez for as long as he can get away with.

Armstrong thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gonzalez thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Armstrong closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gonzalez to the mat! Gonzalez manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Armstrong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gonzalez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Armstrong seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Armstrong wants to stand but Gonzalez is controlling his posture from full guard.
Armstrong won't allow Gonzalez to sweep him here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gonzalez keeps trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gonzalez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gonzalez looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Armstrong slips nicely into half guard.

Armstrong is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gonzalez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Armstrong.
Armstrong tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gonzalez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, if Armstrong is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Gonzalez is trying to maintain the position but Armstrong is very close to passing his half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Armstrong looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gonzalez is fending him off so far but Armstrong persists. Nope, Gonzalez circles away and we're back to standing.
Gonzalez tries to counter with a clinch but Armstrong shakes him off and moves away.
Armstrong throws a combination. Gonzalez tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Mikey Gonzalez has been cut.

Gonzalez drives through with a takedown into Armstrong's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Armstrong manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Gonzalez misses with a knee strike.
Gonzalez can't break the clinch.

Armstrong successfully pulls guard.
Gonzalez tries to free his leg and advance position but Armstrong is retaining full guard.
Armstrong bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gonzalez's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Armstrong is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Armstrong dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mikey Gonzalez's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Gonzalez tries to clinch up
and Armstrong counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Armstrong scores with a jab to the body.

Armstrong closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gonzalez did well to prevent Armstrong getting side control.
Armstrong throwing shots but Gonzalez is blocking nicely.
Armstrong keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Armstrong is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gonzalez can do to turn this around?

Armstrong escapes and gets back to his feet.
Gonzalez moves in looking to clinch but Armstrong pushes him off.

and Armstrong counters with a crisp one two that drops Gonzalez! Armstrong thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Gonzalez to his feet! Gonzalez is in big trouble!


Gonzalez is rocked!
Gonzalez shoots in looking for a takedown. Armstrong tries to sprawl out of it but Gonzalez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Armstrong manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gonzalez is still on wobbly legs! Can Armstrong finish him?
Armstrong is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Armstrong shuts the power down on Gonzalez. Lights out, game over! Armstrong is your winner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tim Armstrong!
