The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hugo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hugo tries to advance to mount but Spammer denies him.

Hugo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Spammer is pressing down on Hugo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Hugo prevents Spammer from getting back to his feet.
Spammer manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hugo manages to get himself to full guard.

Spammer thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Spammer is pushing down on Hugo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hugo is fighting to maintain full guard but Spammer has managed to sneak the leg through.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Spammer takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hugo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spammer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Spammer tries to stand and escape but Hugo is controlling the position.
Spammer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hugo's head.
Spammer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hugo keeps working.

Spammer seems to be looking for submissions.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Hugo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Spammer has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hugo uses from the top position.
Spammer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hugo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Spammer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hugo has managed to get both his arms back between Spammer's legs - danger averted.

Spammer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hugo has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Spammer to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Hugo is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Spammer pulls down on the head and he's put Hugo to sleep! This one is all over!
