Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eriks Podkalns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Olusola Oni!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Podkalns wants to clinch.
It seemed like Oni was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Podkalns walks into a straight right hand from Oni.
Podkalns throws a sloppy head kick and Oni moves out of range easily.
Podkalns tries to clinch up.
Oni looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Podkalns could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Oni gets tackled into the cage by Podkalns. Podkalns maintains the clinch.
Podkalns tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Oni smiles and moves away.
Oni jabs Podkalns to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Podkalns has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Kegerator - 650$ in the buildup to the fight.
Podkalns is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oni stalks Podkalns and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Podkalns's face. Podkalns staggers backwards, shaken.
Oni scores with a punch to the head.
Oni scores with a nice strike.
A punch lands to the side of Podkalns 's head but he takes it in his stride.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Podkalns takes one to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Oni misses with a two punch combination.
Oni connects with a single shot there.
Oni lands a big uppercut and Podkalns crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Podkalns looks OK. Oni waves Podkalns back to his feet!
Podkalns is rocked!
Oni scores with a shot to the body.
Oh Podkalns is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Oni lands a jab to Podkalns's midsection.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oni cracks Podkalns with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Oni has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Podkalns to stand back up!
Oni flashes Podkalns a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Podkalns's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Podkalns crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Oni punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Olusola Oni!
