PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Markus Kray (ranked 1803 p4p, 229 weight class) and Ivar Lothbrook (ranked 3117 p4p, 351 weight class). Ivar Lothbrook told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Markus Kray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ivar Lothbrook!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and Phil Schofield.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kray has closed the distance and engaged Lothbrook in a clinch.
Lothbrook goes for a takedown attempt but Kray pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Kray clinches.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Kray obliges.
Lothbrook is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kray pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Lothbrook is working for takedown but Kray is calmly controlling the position for now.
Markus Kray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivar Lothbrook.

Lothbrook is trying to pull guard but Kray turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Kray lands an elbow inside that Lothbrook shrugs off.

Kray creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Lothbrook's defenses.

Kray drops Lothbrook with a big knee straight up the middle! Lothbrook is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kray keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Lothbrook's efforts to push away.

Lothbrook seems to have recovered his senses.
Kray stops a takedown attempt from Lothbrook.
Kray crunches a lovely knee into Lothbrook's ribcage.

Kray lands an elbow just above Lothbrook 's eye.
Kray is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Kray lands a vicious elbow to the side of Lothbrook's head that scrambles his senses and sends him wobbling down to the canvas! Kray tries to finish him with strikes but Lothbrook still seems able to defend himself so Kray steps back and lets Lothbrook get back to his feet - he wants no part of the ground game.

That has opened up Ivar Lothbrook's cut even more.
Markus Kray is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Lothbrook doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Kray instigates a clinch.
Kray lands an elbow inside.
Kray jerks Lothbrook's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Lothbrook drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Kray goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Kray because Lothbrook was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Markus Kray!
