Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Olyn Seran (ranked 781 p4p, 95 weight class) and Ryan Rodriguez (ranked 1351 p4p, 162 weight class). Seran's entrance music is Sound of Silence - Disturbed. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

It looks like Olyn Seran has been cut.
Rodriguez lands a really nice looking cross but Seran seems unphased.

Rodriguez connects with a good right hand that stumbles Seran. Seran circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Seran lands a nice looking body shot.

and Rodriguez finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Rodriguez connects with a leg kick. Seran looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Seran punishes Rodriguez's body with a nice straight punch.

Seran swings for the body but Rodriguez moves out of range.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Seran crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Rodriguez - the referee stops the clock and Seran gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Rodriguez. Seran manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Rodriguez scores with a one two! Seran had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Rodriguez is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Seran had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

It seemed like Rodriguez was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Rodriguez moves away from the strike by Seran.
Rodriguez misses with a straight left.
Rodriguez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Seran throws a poor cross that misses
and Rodriguez counters with a good, hard body kick but Seran shrugs it off.

Seran has closed the distance and engaged Rodriguez in a clinch.
Rodriguez is looking to break free of the clinch but Seran has double underhooks.
A frustrated look appears on Rodriguez's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Rodriguez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Seran looks to land a left hand but Rodriguez moved out of range nicely.
Seran throws a body shot but no joy.
Rodriguez goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Olyn Seran's cut is getting worse.

Seran cracks Rodriguez with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Seran has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Rodriguez to stand back up!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rodriguez connects with a right hand. Seran shakes it off.
Seran walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Rodriguez unleashes a big counter combination but Seran bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Rodriguez seems to have recovered his senses.
Seran has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Seran there as he acknowledges the shot.
Nice uppercut there from Rodriguez.
Rodriguez lands a leg kick that knocks Seran off balance momentarily.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Seran tries to clinch but Rodriguez moves out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rodriguez pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Seran back to the cage. Rodriguez follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Oh Seran is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Rodriguez scores with a counter punch that sends Seran to the canvas! Rodriguez smells blood - he's punishing Seran with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Seran has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
