PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dro Qanar (ranked 2336 p4p, 280 weight class) and Joe Davis (ranked 2237 p4p, 268 weight class). Qanar comes to the cage accompanied by Fight to Forget. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Joe Davis was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dro Qanar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Davis!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Qanar throws a poor cross that misses
and Davis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Dro Qanar has been cut.
Davis throws a looping overhand right but Qanar ducks down to avoid it.
A big left from Qanar misses.
Davis jabs Qanar right on the nose. Qanar blinks but takes it well.

Qanar clinches up against the cage.
Davis lands a body punch in the clinch.
Qanar's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Still in the clinch, Davis scores with a nice short uppercut.
Davis tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Davis misses with a hook from the clinch.
Qanar misses with a body punch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Qanar.
Qanar lands with a light punch inside.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Qanar jumps guard but Davis stands there with Qanar around his waist. Qanar gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Qanar misses with a hook to the ribs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Qanar misses with the head strike.

Davis prevents a body shot from Qanar.
Qanar fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Davis fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Davis lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Qanar backwards.
Qanar scores with a shot to the side of Davis's head.
Still in the clinch, Davis scores with a nice short uppercut.
Davis swings wildly with an uppercut but Qanar uses good head movement to avoid it.

Qanar throws a punch but it's blocked by Davis.
A head punch on the inside from Qanar fails to land.

Qanar pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Qanar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Davis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Davis told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Davis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Qanar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Davis has managed to get both his arms back between Qanar's legs - danger averted.

Davis is sitting in close to Qanar's body. Qanar has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Davis is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Davis is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Qanar.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Dro Qanar!
During a confident post fight interview, Dro Qanar thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
