Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Ham (ranked 6299 p4p, 443 weight class) and Jan Erik Ris (ranked 6189 p4p, 441 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jan Erik Ris enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Ham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jan Erik Ris!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ham shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Ham is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Ris manages to get to full guard.
Ris is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ham working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ham stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ris swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ham throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ris works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ham throws a big elbow that misses.
Ham has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Ham postures up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ris takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Ham gets a clinch.

Ham has hold of one of Ris's legs. Ris is fighting the takedown attempt but Ham gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Ris has eaten all the pies!

Ham looking to sit in guard and control but Ris gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ham looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ris is one step ahead there.

Ris wants to pass the guard but Ham is keeping the position.
Ham pulls Ris in to control the position.

Ham has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ris can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ham has control of Ris's left arm, preventing Ris from doing any damage.
Ham knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ris on the ground.
Ris wants to pass the guard but Ham is keeping the position.
Ris stops Ham from standing up.

Ris has gone for a leg lock! Ham slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ris's guard.

Ris seems keen to control Ham's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ham gets to his feet. Ris looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Ris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ham tries to avoid it but Ris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ham to the ground. Ham escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ham throws a body shot but no joy.

Ham moves into range and clinches up with Ris.
Ris wants a takedown.

Ham has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ris uses from the top position.
Ham wants to stand but Ris is controlling the position.

Ris drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ham gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Ham manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Ham bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ris's guard.

Ris not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ris lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ris is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Ham seems keen to control Ris's posture.

Ham throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Ham pushes Ris up against the cage in a clinch.

Ham gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Ris wants to get back to his feet but Ham passes into half guard.

Ham is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Ris is looking to control Ham's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ris avoid being mounted?
Ham drops an elbow to the side of Ris's head.
Jack Ham overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ris wants to control but Ham is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Well Ham has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
