The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Watanabe instigates a clinch.
Martinez is trying to pull guard but Watanabe turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Martinez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Watanabe gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Watanabe gets control of Martinez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Watanabe will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Martinez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Watanabe for as long as he can get away with.

Watanabe is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Martinez wants to work for an arm triangle but Watanabe is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
