PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darrion Moss (ranked 3801 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Bong (ranked 4024 p4p, 0 weight class). Moss comes into the arena with Can't C Me blaring out of the sound system. Billy Bong will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darrion Moss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Bong!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moss shoots in for a takedown but Bong shows good takedown defense.
Moss has his takedown stuffed
and Bong counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bong doesn't manage to clinch there - Moss circles away.
Moss moves forwards but Bong connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Bong goes for a double leg but Moss avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Moss continues to drive forward.
Moss tries to counter with a takedown but Bong is quick to defend against it.
Bong misses with a head kick.
Bong is looking to score with low kicks.
Bong misses with a straight right.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Moss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bong takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Moss looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Bong is looking for a sweep. Moss is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Moss thows a huge punch but Bong dodges it nicely.

Moss is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bong sees it coming and defends easily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Bong looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Moss is looking to work some ground and pound but Bong has wrist control.
Bong is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Bong keeping moving, preventing Moss from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Bong fails with a takedown attempt.
Moss drops down looking for a counter takedown but Bong sprawls and moves away.
Bong tries for a takedown but Moss sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Darrion Moss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Bong.

Moss drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Moss with a nice head shot there.
Bong keeping moving, preventing Moss from controlling successfully.

Bong looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moss is one step ahead there.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Moss is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Bong has momentary wrist control but Moss slips an elbow through the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Moss looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bong looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Moss misses the shot to the body.
Bong shoots in for a takedown but Moss shows good takedown defense.

Bong closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bong in the domination position with Moss hanging on.
Moss tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Moss is not content to let Bong control the position.
Moss is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bong off and has taken his back!
Moss lands a shot to the head.
Moss is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Moss is not going to allow Bong to sit and survive in this position.
Moss is hanging on to Bong's back as he tries to escape.

Moss has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Bong has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Moss is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bong can do to turn this around?
Bong is keeping busy.
Bong is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Moss is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Bong up.
Moss throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Bong!

Bong rolls, trying to escape but Moss keeps control of the position.

Bong is trying to remain composed but Moss is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Moss patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bong trying to control the action but Moss just sinks the hooks in.
Moss lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Bong.
Moss is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Bong. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Moss has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Bong.
Bong is still in real trouble! Can Moss finish him?

Bong is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Moss is landing big shots and Bong is squirming looking to escape! He can't escape though and the ref jumps in to end the fight!
