TWGC 28 (205lbs, D1): Finals - Round 1 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a light heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Carlos Silverio (ranked 6447 p4p, 519 weight class) and Rauta Kansleri (ranked 1440 p4p, 0 weight class). Silverio's entrance music is Shiro Sagisu - Angel of Doom. A fine choice. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 19 wins and 13 losses; Carlos Silverio! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 2 losses; Rauta Kansleri!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Silverio drives through and clinches with Kansleri against the cage.
Silverio tries to pull guard but Kansleri won't allow it.

Kansleri bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silverio's guard.

Kansleri must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kansleri is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
My spies in Master Chai's Dojo inform me that Kansleri has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Kansleri is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silverio goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Kansleri rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Silverio's guard! Nice work there by Kansleri!

Silverio isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kansleri stacks Silverio on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kansleri!

Kansleri tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Silverio is looking to regain half guard here but Kansleri keeps moving and retains side control.
Kansleri content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Kansleri takes a little break here. Silverio wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Let's hope that Kansleri has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Silverio tries to get to full guard but Kansleri has control of the leg.
Kansleri moves into full mount! Silverio won't be happy about that!

Silverio has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Silverio might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kansleri uses his free foot to push down on Silverio's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Silverio.

Silverio is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Kansleri has taken his back.

Kansleri biding his time, looking for the opening.

Kansleri wants to control but Silverio is keeping busy.
Kansleri keeps control of the position as Silverio tries to break free.
Kansleri trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Kansleri might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Silverio haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
I would not like to be Silverio right now.

You can see the frustration on Silverio's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Kansleri is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Silverio has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Kansleri just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
