PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tyrell Reed (ranked 4712 p4p, 226 weight class) and Vann Marshall (ranked 4627 p4p, 0 weight class). Reed comes to the cage accompanied by Deal Wiv It. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Vann Marshall!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marshall has his takedown stuffed
letting Reed counter with a right hand.

Reed throws a right and a left that both miss.
Marshall dives in for a single leg takedown but Reed sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Reed throws a series of punches but Marshall avoids them all with ease.

Tyrell Reed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Marshall moves into the clinch.
Reed misses with a knee strike.

Reed manages to break the clinch.
Marshall darts in looking for a takedown but Reed gets double underhooks and turns Marshall into the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Marshall is looking to clinch but Reed is avoiding it.
Reed throws an overhand right that lands on Marshall's shoulder, as Marshall tries to avoid the shot.

Reed tries to bum rush Marshall with a series of wild strikes but Marshall uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Marshall drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Marshall jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Marshall moves into full mount! Reed won't be happy about that!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Reed rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Marshall moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Marshall shoots in looking for a takedown but Reed manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Marshall's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Reed cracks a nice hook into Marshall's ribs.

Marshall shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Reed as he jumps to the side.
Reed is trying hard to land a takedown here. Marshall sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Marshall is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Marshall doesn't manage to clinch there - Reed circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reed tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Marshall defends well and Reed ends up having to push Marshall into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Marshall throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Reed's waist but Reed gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Marshall off to one side.

Marshall tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Reed manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Reed wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Marshall has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Reed avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Reed wants to get back to striking at distance but Marshall won't allow it.
Reed tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Marshall manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Reed manages to get himself to full guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Reed gets caught napping as Marshall dives in and scores a takedown. Reed manages to retain guard.

Marshall stands up from Reed's guard - Marshall perhaps looking for a knockout.
Reed throws out a leg kick but Marshall moves out of range and Reed only half commits.
Marshall is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Marshall is defended easily by Reed.
Marshall checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Reed lands a glancing blow to the side of Marshall's head.

Marshall feints and as Reed raises his hands in defense, Marshall changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Marshall is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Marshall thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Reed's head.
Vann Marshall has got the better of the ground game so far.
Reed has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marshall is working away from the top position though.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Marshall slows the pace down in half guard.
Reed is looking to improve his position.
Reed is trying to maintain the position but Marshall is very close to passing his half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Marshall thows a huge punch but Reed dodges it nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Vann Marshall comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Reed has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
