PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harold Nicolas (ranked 100 p4p, 14 weight class) and Tong Po (ranked 141 p4p, 21 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tong Po!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Po misses with a wild body shot.
Nicolas looks to land a left hand but Po moved out of range nicely.
Nicolas swings widly with a right hand
and Po counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Harold Nicolas has been cut.
Nicolas swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Po counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nicolas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nicolas has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Po swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Nicolas walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Po checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Nicolas lands with a thumping leg kick.
Nicolas throws a leg kick which misses Po's front leg but catches the back leg as Po tries to avoid it.

Nicolas lands a left and a right that send Po crashing to the mat, dazed. Nicolas thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Tong Po has been cut.

Nicolas fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Po moves out of range as Nicolas strikes.

The fighters circling - Po throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nicolas seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Nicolas takes a swing at Po's ribcage but misses.
Po raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Nicolas stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Nicolas slips a jab from Po.
Nicolas ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A nice leg kick lands there from Nicolas.
Po cracks a nice hook into Nicolas's ribs.
Nicolas misses with a body shot.
Po avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Po has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Nicolas finds it's way round the side to connect with Po's head.

Nicolas connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Nicolas throws a shot from downtown. Po moves away and avoids it.
Po throws out a loose jab but Nicolas uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Po counters with a nice uppercut.
Po throws a body punch but Nicolas moves out of range.

Nicolas throws a leg kick which misses Po's front leg but catches the back leg as Po tries to avoid it.
Po swings for the body but Nicolas moves out of range.
Nicolas throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Nicolas gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Po tries to move into range but Nicolas moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

and Po counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Nicolas, right into the meat.
Po throws an off balance right hand
and Nicolas counters with a straight right hand.
Po is still on wobbly legs! Can Nicolas finish him?
Nicolas fakes the body blow, causing Po to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Po goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
