Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Norman Pearson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kristian Johansson!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pearson throws a nice inside leg kick.

Sloppy strikes from Johansson. Those never looked like landing.
Pearson misses with a body punch
enabling Johansson to counter with a crisp jab.
Johansson swings for the body but Pearson moves out of range.
Johansson throws an overhand right that lands on Pearson's shoulder, as Pearson tries to avoid the shot.
Pearson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Pearson duly obliges.
Johansson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Norman Pearson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johansson avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Pearson misses with an uppercut. Johansson saw that one coming.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Johansson! But no joy.

It looks like Kristian Johansson has been cut.

Johansson throws a hook but Pearson blocks it.
Johansson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Pearson has time to react.

Pearson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johansson moves away.

Pearson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Nice body punch from Pearson - that landed with a thud.

Pearson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Pearson drops Johansson with a right and a left! Pearson comes rushing in but Johansson regains his composure and manages to keep Pearson in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johansson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Johansson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Let's hope that Johansson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That was a close round but I would say that Norman Pearson will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pearson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Johansson lands a left and a right that send Pearson crashing to the mat, dazed. Johansson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Pearson tries to close the distance and clinch but Johansson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
No joy there for Pearson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Johansson might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

An out of breath Kristian Johansson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
In defeat, Norman Pearson stepped up to the mic, saying 'I knew I was better in the clinch so I did my best to get in that area and smash him. Obviously that gameplan didn't work. I will get back to camp and re-evaluate where we went wrong. Thank you all for coming out! '.
