The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pollack shoots in looking for a takedown. Chkalov tries to sprawl out of it but Pollack keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chkalov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pollack fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chkalov avoids it really well and circles away.

Pollack wants to get back to full guard but Chkalov has passed into side control.
Chkalov lands a nice forearm strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chkalov is looking to stand but Pollack has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Pollack is squirming around, avoiding Chkalov's attempts to control the action.
Chkalov prevents Pollack from getting the reversal.
Chkalov misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Chkalov goes for an armbar but Pollack turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Pollack.

Chkalov has his foot on Pollack's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pollack works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pollack is in close to Chkalov's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Pollack lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Pollack has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pollack cracks Chkalov with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pollack looking to sit in guard and control but Chkalov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Chkalov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Pollack pulls Chkalov in close to his closed guard and prevents Chkalov from doing any damage or advancing position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pollack is on top in guard.

Chkalov tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pollack throws a strike but Chkalov rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Dobrushin Chkalov dominated that round.
That's time! Pollack's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Pollack shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Chkalov's guard.
Chkalov wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Pollack manages to pass to side control.

George N Pollack overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pollack is stalling here. Chkalov is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Pollack seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Chkalov has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Chkalov not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Chkalov is trying to control. Pollack wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Chkalov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Pollack has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chkalov is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pollack feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Pollack lands a big elbow - Chkalov is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Pollack!
