PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Diego Diaz (ranked 2534 p4p, 305 weight class) and Floki Agard (ranked 5810 p4p, 504 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Diego Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Floki Agard!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Agard avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Agard tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Diaz checks the leg kick.
Diaz feinted with a counter takedown.

Agard changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Diaz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Diaz tries to bench press Agard off him but Agard keeps the position.
Diaz seems a little lost for a moment, as Agard dominates the positioning.
Diaz is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Agard is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Diaz tries to reverse the position but Agard maintains control.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Agard working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Diaz is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Agard is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Diaz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Agard's guard.

Diaz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Diaz is staying active underneath Agard, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Agard is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Agard closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Floki Agard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Agard closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Diaz to the mat! Diaz manages to get full guard.

Diaz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Agard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Floki Agard comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Agard has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
