Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lew Rockwell (ranked 21820 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chief Cobra (ranked 21619 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lew Rockwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Cobra!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cobra gets a takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Cobra looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rockwell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Rockwell is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cobra pulls his head out easily.
Cobra tries to stand and escape but Rockwell actually recovers to full guard.
Rockwell keeping full guard, as Cobra tries to pass.
Cobra slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Cobra stands up from Rockwell's guard - Cobra perhaps looking for a knockout.

Cobra pushes Rockwell up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cobra tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Rockwell blocks an uppercut.
Cobra swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Rockwell drags the fight down to the ground.

Rockwell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cobra gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cobra wants to stand but Rockwell has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Rockwell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Rockwell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cobra doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cobra manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rockwell is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Kalashnikov ELITE MMA Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Cobra with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Cobra is looking to stand up but Rockwell won't let him.

Rockwell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cobra gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rockwell is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cobra is aware though and is defending well.

Cobra stands up from Rockwell's guard - Cobra perhaps looking for a knockout.

Cobra gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Rockwell lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Cobra sprawling to the canvas. Rockwell follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Cobra hang on?


Cobra is rocked!


It looks like Chief Cobra has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rockwell is trying to control. Cobra wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Rockwell seems to be looking for submissions.
Cobra told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Rockwell tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cobra knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Rockwell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Cobra is looking to escape.

Rockwell is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cobra has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rockwell is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Rockwell is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Cobra is trying to stand.

Rockwell seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Cobra has recovered full guard.
Cobra wants to sweep here but Rockwell controlling him for the moment.
Cobra controls Rockwell momentarily but Rockwell frees himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rockwell advances to half guard.

Rockwell seems to be working for a kimura but Cobra defends the submission attempt.

Cobra regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Rockwell.
Cobra avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lew Rockwell dominated that round.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cobra ducks under a wild hook from Rockwell.

Rockwell steps into range and cracks Cobra with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Cobra flops backwards and Rockwell dives into his guard looking to finish!
Rockwell is looking to work some ground and pound but Cobra has wrist control.

Rockwell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Rockwell postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cobra is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rockwell, into his guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cobra stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Rockwell closes the distance and pushes Cobra back into the cage.
Rockwell blocks an uppercut.

Cobra fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Cobra.

Rockwell tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cobra smiles and moves away.
Rockwell throws a lazy right hand but Cobra sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Cobra shoots in but Rockwell avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Cobra tries to clinch but Rockwell moves out of range.
Rockwell ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cobra moves away.

Cobra gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Rockwell tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cobra just stands there and leans against the cage.
Cobra scores with a shoulder strike.

Rockwell pulls guard effortlessly.

Rockwell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Cobra wants to stand but Rockwell has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Lew Rockwell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chief Cobra.

Cobra's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lew Rockwell will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Rockwell has his foot on Cobra's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cobra works his way back into a safe position though.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cobra's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Cobra dodges the punch combination from Rockwell.
Cobra needs to keep his hands up - Rockwell had a free shot at his head there.

Cobra takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

and Cobra counters with a crisp right hand that drops Rockwell! Cobra lets Rockwell back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Cobra manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Rockwell jumps guard and drags Cobra to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Cobra has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rockwell is proving hard to escape from.

Cobra gets to his feet - Rockwell follows without any prompting.

Cobra darts in and clinches Rockwell up against the cage.
Rockwell tries to pull guard but Cobra holds him up against the cage and eventually Rockwell drops back down to his feet.

Rockwell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cobra can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lew Rockwell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Cobra tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rockwell paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Chief Cobra has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
