PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between The Hitman (ranked 4800 p4p, 446 weight class) and Quantell Walker (ranked 4673 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Walker's choice of entrance music: 24's. Quantell Walker told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hitman.
A head kick misses from Walker.
Walker throws a sloppy head kick and Hitman moves out of range easily.
Walker blocks a jab.
Walker clobbers Hitman with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Walker fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hitman.
Hitman avoids the body shot from Walker.
Hitman throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hitman misses with a hook. Walker ducked under it nicely.
Walker uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hitman.
Hitman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A jab lands there for Hitman.
Walker lands a high kick!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Walker blocks a head kick by Hitman.
Hitman thows a left - swing and a miss!
Walker throws a nice outside leg kick.
Hitman misses with a straight left.
Walker appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Hitman misses with a hook
and Walker counters with a stiff right hand.

Walker forces Hitman back against the cage and clinches.
Walker tries to score a body lock takedown but Hitman shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walker connects with a nasty looking knee right to Hitman's face.

Walker pulls guard.
Hitman trying to control but Walker is working from the bottom.
Hitman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Walker wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Hitman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walker on the ground.
Walker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Walker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hitman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Walker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hitman manages to get himself to full guard.

Walker throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walker seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Walker throws a big elbow that misses.
Walker stands and throws Hitman's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walker is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Hitman is trying to escape and Walker transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Hitman is forced to tap! Nice work there by Walker! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Quantell Walker!
Quantell Walker was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
