PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight kickboxing rules bout between Tong Po (ranked 5437 p4p, 436 weight class) and Louis Alexandre Berthier (ranked 6445 p4p, 471 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berthier motions for Po to come forward. Berthier throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Berthier misses with an uppercut. Po saw that one coming.
Berthier throws a head kick but Po moves out of range.
A counter left hand to the body from Po misses its target.
A nice leg kick lands there from Berthier.
Po ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Berthier moves away.
Berthier misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Po closes the distance and scores with a big combo that sends Berthier crashing to the mat! Berthier uses the ropes to get back to his feet and beat the count. The referee looks concerned but he's going to allow it to continue!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

It looks like Tong Po has been cut.
Po takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Berthier tried to score with a low kick but Po checks it.

Berthier throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Berthier fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Po manages to avoid it.
Both fighters circling a little - Berthier finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Berthier throws a good cross that connects.

Berthier scores with a decent looking hook.
Po moves out of range of the strikes.
Po throws a leg kick that misses.
The crowd cheers as Po lands an impressive looking overhand right. Berthier doesn't seem phased though.
Po takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Berthier connects with a leg kick. Po looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Berthier takes one to the chin there.

Po on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Berthier is still on wobbly legs! Can Po finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Po takes a swing at Berthier's ribcage but misses.
Berthier throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Po stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Po closes the distance and catches Berthier with a lead hook that drops him to the canvas! Berthier is clearly dazed and struggling here! 3,4,5,6,7 and Berthier is up to his feet but the referee has called it off! Berthier is still far too wobbly and he's not going to allow the fight to continue! Po takes it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Tong Po!
After winning the bout, Tong Po thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
