The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vergys takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Mathias Alder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Vergys.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Alder has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Vergys lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Alder swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've been told by Vergys's head coaches at Iron mikes mma that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
