PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yowis Ben (ranked 22045 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shazaam McDaniels (ranked 3006 p4p, 0 weight class). Shazaam McDaniels told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yowis Ben!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shazaam McDaniels!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Chris Dean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ben.
Ben tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McDaniels swivels and escapes.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ben crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from McDaniels - the referee stops the clock and Ben gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says McDaniels. Ben manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
McDaniels scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

It looks like Yowis Ben has been cut.

Ben shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ben showed some decent athleticism there.
Ben stops McDaniels from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ben looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McDaniels with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Ben working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McDaniels is looking to escape.

McDaniels manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Ben fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yowis Ben. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McDaniels thumps Ben with a low kick.
Good leg kick by McDaniels there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
McDaniels displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ben.
McDaniels scores with a one two! Ben had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ben shoots in for a double leg but McDaniels sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Shazaam McDaniels is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McDaniels pushes Ben away with a front kick.
Shazaam McDaniels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ben is breathing heavily.
Ben takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Yowis Ben's cut is getting worse.
McDaniels is looking to slow Ben down with leg kicks.
Look low, kick high! McDaniels uses the oldest trick in the book to send Ben tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! McDaniels is absolutely delighted - when Ben wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
