TWGC 2 (185lbs, D3): Hilo Qualifier - Round 1 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a middleweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Tommy Riordan and Tom A Lincoln. A Lincoln comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Game of Thrones kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Tommy Riordan! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; Tom A Lincoln!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Jeff Smith.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

A Lincoln darts in and clinches Riordan up against the cage.

Riordan has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed A Lincoln clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Riordan throws his legs up looking for a submission but A Lincoln uses it to pass to side control.
We've been hearing good reports from Riordan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Riordan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Riordan is trying to stick to A Lincoln's back but A Lincoln is turning into Riordan. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Riordan's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by A Lincoln.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A Lincoln working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Riordan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Riordan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
