and Rugowski cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Putin closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Putin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rugowski's waist but Rugowski gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Putin off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fedor Putin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Putin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Makunouchi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Putin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
