Kang decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Cardenas is concentrating on defense, preventing Kang from advancing position.
Cardenas is trying to stand back up but Kang is controlling him
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kang sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Cardenas defending well though.
Cardenas holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Cardenas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cardenas has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kang throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cardenas was covering up waiting for the punch and Kang finishes the takedown easily into guard. #ES#
Cardenas manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.#T2#
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cardenas manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Cardenas swings widly with a right hand
and Kang counters with a three punch combo that has Cardenas backing up. Cardenas nods at Kang to acknowledge the strikes.#TD#
Cardenas looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kang wants to stand back up but Cardenas manages to pass into side control.
