and Marquez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Smith blocks a head kick by Marquez.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Smith! But no joy.
Smith throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Marquez on the wrong end of a nice jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith avoids the head kick by Marquez.
Marquez looks to land a right hand but Smith moved out of range.
Smith looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Smith scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Marquez misses with an uppercut
and Smith counters with a stiff right hand.
Marquez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Marquez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Smith digs a good body shot into Marquez's ribs.

Smith connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Marquez tumbling to the canvas! Smith pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Marquez was done - good stoppage!

Smith looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Smith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Smith takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Mcgregor lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

We've been hearing reports that Smith has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Brown moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith misses with a hook. Brown ducked under it nicely.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Brown looks up at the clock and then as Smith takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Brown smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Brown is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Smith has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brown passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Smith!
Smith wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Brown.

Brown throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Smith because Brown loaded up on that one.

Brown working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Smith looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Brown! Submission of the night perhaps?

Smith feints a jab promting Neves to slip. Smith then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Neves slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Smith lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Neves at a distance.

Neves gets the takedown into side control.
Smith is looking to regain half guard here but Neves keeps moving and retains side control.
Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Smith is still trying to improve position.
Neves landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Neves tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Neves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Neves has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Smith is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Neves yanks on the arm and Smith is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Neves.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brewer tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Brewer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Brewer fails to land the takedown.
Smith seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Brewer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Smith fails to pull guard.
Brewer is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Smith to keep the fight standing.
Tony Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emmanuel Brewer.
Smith lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

It looks like Emmanuel Brewer has been cut.

English jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Smith walks away with a smile on his face. English gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
English looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smith is fending him off so far but English persists. Nope, Smith circles away and we're back to standing.
English shoots in and drives through. Smith sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex English. That's going to take a lot out of him.

English clinches.

Smith wants the takedown. English is fighting it off but Smith persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in English's guard against the cage.

Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Smith wanted to stand there but English had control of the position.

English is trying to ground and pound but Smith uses the momentary lack of control by English to regain half guard.

English is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Smith is pressing down on English's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
English stops Smith from standing up.
English knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

English drops back, looking for a kneebar! Smith looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smith!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
English wants to control but Smith postures up.

Smith stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Smith fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging English to the ground. Smith is now in English's guard.

Smith stands and steps away. English gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Smith lands with a slapping head kick.

It looks like Alex English has been cut.
English doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Smith looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

English gets a clinch.

Smith ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Smith no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Smith manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Smith is trying to push English away but English has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Smith has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
English pushes Smith back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Smith gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Smith gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
English throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Smith manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

English keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Smith's efforts to push away.
