Vuyisile Colossa was born in the small mining town of Thabong Welkom. Growing up, Colossa was very active, he played all types of sports and competed in many competitions. When Colossa grew older, his father taught him the arts of Muay Thai in which he trained day and night. Upon his father's encouragement, Colossa competed in the Free State Championships and finished 3rd. Later on, he also finished 3rd in the SA trials in Pretoria and was awarded his national colours.
