Stanfield lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
James has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Touch Of Death Combat Academy in the buildup to the fight.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Stanfield lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and James has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from James and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Stanfield has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Bruno Lombardi.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Townsend bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Da Costa closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Townsend drags the fight down to the ground.
Da Costa is looking to pass into half guard but Townsend pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Townsend is in guard.

Da Costa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Townsend pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Da Costa back to the cage. Townsend follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Townsend lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Townsend finds Da Costa 's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Da Costa flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Townsend lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Da Costa will be OK.

Dio tries to close the distance and clinch up but Turpin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dio just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromTurpin.
Randolph Turpin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters circling a little - Dio finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
A left lands for Turpin.
Dio takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Turpin, right into the meat.
Dio pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Turpin ducks under a wild hook from Dio.
Turpin looks to land a left hand but Dio moved out of range nicely.
Dio only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Dio is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Dio fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Turpin throws a hook but Dio blocks it.
Dio comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dio has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Turpin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dio lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Turpin sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Turpin is breathing heavily.
Dio cracks a nice hook into Turpin's ribs.
Dio throws a head kick that misses.

Dio has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Turpin pivots, looking for a leg kick but Dio is out of range and Turpin settles back down.

Turpin takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Turpin is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Dio.
Turpin pushes Dio away with a front kick.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dio uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Turpin.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Turpin sizes up Dio with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Dio is rocked!
Dio walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Turpin! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!
