Woodard tries to score a power double leg takedown but King sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Woodard somewhat.
King looks to land a combination but Woodard avoids it well.
Woodard wants to clinch
letting King counter with a right hand.
Woodard fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Woodard tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
King rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Woodard moves out of range and avoids them all easily.#T1#
King misses with a double jab.
King looks to land a combination. Woodard sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.#CUT2#
It looks like Roger Woodard has been cut.
King changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Woodard tries to avoid it but King manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Woodard to the ground. Woodard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
King goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Woodard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Woodard shoots in looking for a takedown but King manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Woodard's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roger Woodard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Woodard tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. King manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Woodard shoots and misses
and King counters with a series of strikes. Woodard will be more careful next time no doubt.
Woodard is trying hard to land a takedown here. King sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Woodard has his takedown stuffed
and King counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.#T2#
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
King defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Woodard.
Despite the aggression on King's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Woodard is breathing heavily.
A combination from King does no damage.
King uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Woodard has time to react.
King connects with a combination that backs up Woodard into the cage. King lands a flurry of punches that gets past Woodard's guard. Woodard is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! King bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). JJ King!
