Eve of Destruction

Event Preview: Syn Euro: Eve of Destruction
Synchronicity Europe
2011-12-24, Helsinki, Malmi Sportshall
Author:

Angel Fuente v Ray Leonard-This fight went from a great match up to a possible walk through with turmoil in the Fuente camp. Fuente is currently without a manager, and facing one of the top managers in the game. By the time Fuente clear waivers, his new management team will have a short period of time to prepare for the fight. Leonard on the other hand has been training like a mad man. He vows to make Angel’s situation even worse with a KO. Leonard has his eyes on the KOOTN prize money and moving closer to a title shot. With his superior boxing and stellar management, it seems the new manager of Fuente would be hard pressed to bridge the gap in mere days.

Jamey Jasta v Franko Mia-What a contrast of characters! Jasta comes in with a bitter attitude for this fight. After losing his title shot in a fight where he was the clear favorite Jasta was pissed, and then he went on to fight the crafty veteran Mia to a draw, and now Jasta has flew into a murderous rage. He has already sent 4 sparring partners to the hospital, and camp mate Derek Vinyard has refused to train with Jasta. Mia, The Maniac, has arrived in Helsinki in great spirits. He knows he has nothing to lose in this fight, and feels he proved himself in the first fight. Mia claims all the pressure is on Jasta, and from the looks of it, he may be right. Look for Jasta to adjust his striking, and look to push Mia on the feet, but we all know Mia will be looking for the takedown, and is like a shark on the ground.

Wyrd Underground Entertainment.

Christmas Day.

Rust in Peace.

What a treat, I would say it is like Christmas but it is actually Christmas day. Here we have not only a 205lbs Title fight but we also have a final for a VIP membership. This should give everyone watching a good appetite ready for the massive turkey dinner ahead.

To start things off is the title fight between 205lbs fighters Terry Bogard 8-4-0 and Ben Trester 6-4-0. Current belt holder Bogard has got his work cut out for himself here as everyone knows the hardest part of being a fighter is defending his belt, but with his stand-up skills he should get through it alive. Trester is a great a

My interview with Jeremy Tonal

Fighter profile of Jeremy Tonal by

Recently I had been called by my boss to tell me I had been granted the privilege of interviewing Jeremy Tonal the #1 P4P fighter on the planet. I was supposed to meet him in a classy restaurant. So I went all out combing my hair, and renting a tuxedo. I thought I was going to steal the show. Unfortunately as soon as I arrived I found out most of the people were in casual clothing, including Tonal. Needless to say I looked like a total ass. So, with some careful tiptoeing, I got to start the interview.

Me: Did you compete in any martial arts as a youth?
Tonal: I did train some wrestling in school but never competed at a high level, it just didn't interest me the way MMA does. Also why are you wearing a tux?

Me: Uuuh no reason anyway next question. What attracted you to the Golden Glory fight?
Tonal: I'm always looking for big fights and it doesn't get much bigger than fighting Glory right now. He was also willing to come and fight in GAMMA which helped a lot

London's Brawling

Editorial by Bricktop McKenzie

London’s Brawling

Last week I introduced you all to 3 of the top orgs in London, one Org who didn’t get a mention though is Troid. The top dog, number 1 fighting org in London, number 9 in the world, Troid deserve a special mention all of their own and this week I’ll be giving you all the low down on them. In addition I’ll look back on an action packed week and getting the crystal ball out for a few predictions.

Troid
Run by Craig Brophy, Troid started life in August 2010 in a card which saw Crash Bandicoot crowned the orgs first ever champion with a win over Tomasz Rozwalka in the Light Heavyweight Division. Originally focusing mainly on fighters with an ID of 100K or over, Troid has moved from it’s humble origins as start out org for newer fighters to London’s premier place to fight. With 6 true divisions (the 265+ lbs division is used to blood new fighters) there is plenty going on. A recent takeover of CFL has seen several big name, lower ID fighters come in to shake up the status quo. And whilst I understand that the takeover ended up proving costly for Troid they continue to put on strong cards.

As well as their normal events Troid have so far run 9 super card events. Known as Troid Slider Kingz these events have seen Craig bring in top talent from other orgs for 1 off super fights. These events have been one of the keys to Troid success.

With 81 events to their name Troid have a long enough history to create legends in the org. Three of these have made it into the Hall of Fame, including my own fighter, Paul Poulter, the current 205 lbs champion. The other two are;

Jay Jay - Known as Mr Troid, Jay Jay is a legend. Winner of the tournament to crown Troid’s first ever Middleweight Champion, Jay Jay went on to defend it 8 times, including against Paul Poulter at Slider Kingz 8. Two recent l

From Prospect to Contender - A Viktor Kafka Story

Fighter profile of Viktor Kafka by Speedy Gonzaitev

For some time my fellow managers and I have observed the growth of my promising young boxer-turned-mixed-martial-artist, Viktor Kafka.  In the gym, no one that I had previously managed came close to his ability to pick up skills and absorb information and apply them to a fight.  Recently he has been stepping his game up and proving to me that he has a bright, bright future in the sport.  The first year under my management was focused on getting him in shape, and ready to go the distance in every one of his fights.  After a year of hard training, I signed him up with the Chrysor Champions League in St Petersburg.  His debut fight was set for April 9th of this year.  Coming into the fight, we gameplanned heavily for dealing with his grappling advantage, and I told him to look for the big shot to finish it early.

Kafka ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Sova's jaw. Sova's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Kafka does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent. Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Viktor Kafka!

After a great opening fight, Kafka was eager to get in the cage again to test his skills, and after discussing things with the owner of Chrysor, we agreed that KAfka should enter the inter-org 185lb championship tournament.  However, the tourney was slow in developing, and Kafka was eager to re-enter the cage so I entered him into another fight a month later against another grappler.  This time we focused heavily on grappling during training in order to deal with the fight if it went to the mat.

Kafka drops Seagal with a big left hand! Seagal is injured, injured bad! Kafka jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!  Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Viktor Kafka!

After another impressive performance it was time for the 185lb tournament that would surely test Kafka's full range of skills as a fighter.  His first opponent was a heavy handed striker who had Kafka outclassed on the mat but had not shown any ground skills in his previous 6 fights, 5 of which he won by TKO or KO.  Goi

Why We Play

Editorial by Marc Bradford

Why do you play MMA Tycoon? If you ask this question to a group of twenty managers you’re likely to get twenty different answers.

“To be the best manager in the game.”
“To have the best fighters.”
“To run the best organization.”
“To train my fighters to perfection.”
“To break down every single aspect of this game and use my mathematical prowess to crack the code.”

All of the above are solid answers, but all are missing one particular aspect: THE FIGHTS!

To be the best, you have to fight. To have the best fighters, you have to fight. To run the best organization, you have to have the biggest and best fights. Why train your fighters to perfection unless they fight? You crack the code to win the fight. The fight is why I keep coming back.

My favorite moments are the anticipation leading up to the fight. I might log on once or twice a day to do a final scout of my opponent, and make some tiny adjustments to my sliders. Then, about thirty minutes before the fight, I log into Tycoon and wait. I’ll go check some other sites, browse the forums, drop a troll post or two, and keep checking the time. On the hour, I’ll go get a drink or get a smoke. By the time that’s done it’s about seven minutes after the hour. I wait for the magic number to hit twelve, when the fight finally show

TTFC Gauge Vs William Preview

Event Preview: TTFC Gauge Vs William
Team Thomas Fight Club
2011-12-24, New York, Hard Knocks - New York
Author:Mike Thomas

He knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows if you've been bad or good so be good or he will slap on an omoplata that will make you cry. Saturday night, fight night!

Light Heavyweight: Tim Crazy (0-0) vs Wayne "The Warrior" Davis (0-1)

Tim Crazy is an entirely unknown quantity as he enters the cage for the first time in his professional career but the word from his camp is that he is first and foremost a grappler. The Warrior will want to show off his Muay Thai skills for the second time as he looks to rebound back from his brutal slam KO to Kamal Silva. In that fight Davis was bullied by the superior wrestling of Silva and that will not have gone unnoticed by Tim Crazy.

Prediction: We have no basis of comparison for these two with a combined record of 0-1 but when in doubt pick the wrestler. Crazy by decision.

Welterweight: Tellus "Telli" Cavinato (2-2) vs Marcos Villapudua (2-1)
