Kage Ryu Taijutsu's Featherweight and Heavyweight divisions will finally crown champions as their tournament finals are closing in.  Four fighters are entering the cage on March 1st with only two of them walking out, not only as top dogs in their division, but with $25,000 in hand.  The three-round affair will last 10 minutes per round to solidify the stronger of the challengers and I guarantee you... this will be one of the greatest events of the century.

SPFT 98

Event Preview: SPFT 98
Steel Penn Fighting Temple

Author:Steel Penn

March Madness is usually a term associated with College Basketball. This year, it will more commonly associated with the action inside the cage at SPFT. Everyone is geared up and ready for the long awaited SPFT 100, which will undoubtedly be a massive show celebrating the longevity of our beloved organization, however, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we should not overlook the start studded event ahead of us at SPFT 98.

As you're all well aware, SPFT 98 will be headlined by the rematch that everyone has been clamoring for, when Severi Turpaansaaja will challenge Randolph Turpin again for the Lightweight belt only one short month after their last fight. Before we talk about that match, though, let's look at the preliminary card.

In the first fight of the night, two Featherweights will enter the cage, Sameer Hamadoui and Murat Orgun. Hamadoui has had problems since joining the SPFT family, losing all three fights by first round submission, bring

A sit down with Tremayne Trump

Profile of Tremayne Trump by Maximiliaan Marks

Maximilian Marks had a Skype interview Tremayne Trump to get a chance to talk about Del Norte’s dominant win over Siyad Jarrah to claim the bantamweight belt at the Big Bang 2 event. The 135 lbs division is still very much a work in progress as it has always lacked in a bit of depth and the best way to get an initial contender was to do a tournament. Del Norte fought to a controversial draw with Tyler Lee Jr in the first round but managed to come back with a first round submission in the rematch. He then stopped Brandao in the first round of the fight, not only getting himself to the title but also avenging his only loss. In the tourney final Del Norte and Bertoto went to war, with Del Norte taking home the decision.  Del Norte then went on to take the title from Jarrah by unanimous decision in what was a dominant performance. Jarrah was given numerous chances to work his submission game but Del Norte was better standing, and on the ground.

1. First of all, Congratz on the win and the belt, what a career

Rise and Fall of the QFC Movement

Editorial by Roland Lawrence

It started with a novel idea:  a level playing field.  Big named managers with a history of running successful organizations decided it was time to wipe the slate clean, and give everyone an equal opportunity to succeed or fail in the ring.  No longer would you need a pile of money, an elitist private gym, and years of sequestered training to compete with the big boys.  Find you a rugged 25 year old good ol’ boy with an amateur history and delusions of grandeur, and get pounding in the ring.  Training?  Who needs it.  A strong chin and a heavy hand with some tactical prowess and luck, and you could run with the elite.

This manager found a thriving Quick Fight community upon entering the game a few months back, and couldn’t help but put together a few fight

UNDER CARD

Middleweight Fight

#18 Henkka Seppala (1-0 NGF) v #8 Jambo Alvez (9-6, 3-3 NGF)

This one turned out to be a good start to the card.  Henkka Seppala made his career debut in this one, and as we were told, he has big power; it showed as he was able to get the early 2nd round TKO, set up by a huge uppercut that pretty much put Jambo in la la land.  Jambo Alvez didn’t look bad in this one, he had a decent game plan and he was looking pretty good until the big uppercut.  He was also cut in the 1st round, but it was taken care of between rounds.  Alvez was 2 for 7 on takedowns, and you could see he was very tired after a few of those failed one, particularly the failed one early in the 2nd.  When he did get Seppala down, he did control that action, but the ref stood them up which didn’t help Jambo.  Henkka Seppala looked good, but he will need to fight a little better competition next.

Middleweight Fight

#24 Bennie Wilson (5-5 NGF) v #22 Pavel Zarubin (4-5, 2-5 NGF)

GAMMA Gossip Edition#8 Review

Global Association of MMA, Fight Organization, London
Company profile by Mentor Guru Corleone

Hi there, GAMMA fanatics! Iiiittttt’sssss tiiiiiiiiime for some more GAMMA Gossip, with me, AC Jimbo. Let’s cut to it and see what’s been going down recently.

Our most recent shows were GAMMA 287 and 288, so there’s no better place to begin than there.

First GAMMA 287: Fedotov v Pennanen, which was a great evening at the Wandalay Bay. The co-main event delivered to us a stunning 52 second knockout win for Jorge Cruz over Thomas Hearns, who just didn’t know what had hit him. Judging by the way he left the cage, it looked quite possible that it had been a freight train. I’ll get it out of the way nice and early: this was another fight that turned out exactly as I had predicted...

Then it was onto the main event, where Juho Pennanen bested Vladik Fedotov, again this was something I told you guys would happen, so hopefully you’ve been following my tips and making yourself a pretty penny down at the bookies! However, the judges saw it a little

Welterweight - Renee "The Ragin' Cajun" Mondeux Unanimous Decisioned Chras "Wood Dog" Watsky

Renee Looked like a man on a mission, getting two takedowns in the first minute. At the distance, "The Ragin' Cajun" was more successful at landing his strikes. With another takedown before the round ended, Renee took the round. The second round had Mondeux fight his fight. He was able to get takedowns and land strikes, and at the distance he was fairly successful. The third had more of the same. It opened with a takedown from Mondeux. They got up and a head kick cut Mondeux! The shock of the blow got Watsky a takedown. After that, Mondeux got back to work and got two more takedowns before the round ended. It was a round night for Watsky.
