MMA Universal Presents! An Inside Look At........

Editorial by Jolon Williams

Daarstknasset Oystenteller

Corey - Hello MMA fans! A few days ago, newly formed London based organisation, REVO, tooted the signing of it's 100th fighter after less than a month of being in business. In commemoration, we at MMA Universal took it upon ourselves to interview several of their fighters and in turn, their managers, to see if we could get a glimpse into their mindset. Today, we have with us Daarstknasset Oystenteller, representing the welterweight division in James Dean's camp. Thank you for joining us.

Daarstknasset - You have kept me waiting over an hour to do this interview. I could have spent this hour in training. This time, I will pardon your tardiness, Corey.

Corey - I ... what? The interview was scheduled for noon ..

Daarstknasset - It is a big world, yes? I am sure it is noon somewhere, but it is not noon here in Amsterdam. Regardless, I am quite ready to be interviewed now.

Corey - We're not in ... ahem. Okay, anyway. Let's see ... alright, perhaps we could start off with a little something about you before the success. How did you find your roots in

"Lucky" Liam O Connor

Fighter profile of Liam O'Connor by Mark O'Sullivan

Sometimes we see debates about whether or not a fighter just got "lucky" in a fight or if he just is the better fighter. There's talk about whether or not Liam O Connor (2-0), is the real deal or if he has just been lucky so far in his MMA career. He's already racked up 2 wins in a row and with his last one being in convincing fashion, any fighter to underestimate him will be making a foolish mistake.

Luke Marshall (2-1) looked like he could have been the next big thing, being 2-0 in his first two fights, one of which being a KO win in the first round. Many believed he was the favourite going into this fight having displayed great boxing skill in his first fight and KO power by getting the KO win, whereas Liam O Connor didn't really have his

Heavyweight Fight

Rocky Marciano 1-0-0   VS   Dwayne Johnston 1-2-0

Marciano connects with a nice cross there... Johnston is looking wobbly and Marciano recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Johnston to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Marciano jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rocky Marciano!

Lightweight Fight

Ron Chalmers 1-3-0   VS   Greg Mitchel 1-0-0

I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Chalmers has cracked Mitchel with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Chalmers lands another huge swinging hook and Mitchel tumbles to the canvas!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ron Chalmers!

The MMA Today - Alex Dragon

Fighter profile of Alex Dragon by Jack LaBear

Hello all you MMA fans out there, I'm Phil Conners and I'm here to bring you another episode of "The MMA Today Show". This is where we bring you some of the best fighters in Los Angeles and explore what they are all about. This week, we have Alex Dragon here with us. Alex will be fighting for the bantamweight title this coming Saturday in a rematch against Kari Parisyen. Their first bout ended in a split decision so this should be a very close fight. Let's here it for the "firebreathing" Alex Dragon.

[Alex enters the set smiling and waving to the audience]

Phil: Welcome to the show Alex.

Alex: Thanks, happy to be here.

Phil: I saw your fight last Friday and I must say, impressive win. Congratulations. Why don't you tell us a little about yourself, what do you like to do when your not bashing someones head in?

Alex: Thanks, as for what I do when I'm not fighting, alot of people already know I'm a 3 time National Potato Chucking Champion so when I'm not fighting or in the gym you can usually catch me at my potato chucking range at my house practicing for this year's competition.

Phil: Potato chucking, huh [chuckles] That sounds really cool. So tell us about potato chucking, is it just who can throw it the farthest? Or do you have to throw with accuracy? How does that work?

Alex: It all depends on what kind of competition you join, some are power, some are accuracy and some require you to use both.

Phil: Three time champion, that's awesome. So have you won in both types, or do you specialize in one or the other? Also, is there any money in it or do you just get a ribbon or something?

Alex: Well I have won both types, you kind of have to if you compete at a national level, and you get ribbons and prize money, I myself have been able to make a good lump of cash from it.

Phil: Now I know who to call if I need to borrow money [chuckles]. Just kidding, but WOW, first a national champ at tossing spuds and now your fighting for a championship in MMA, how did you end up getting into MMA in the first place?

Alex: Well I've been boxing since I was 15, my dad use to own his own boxing gym and use to teach me and my bros a few things, I was going to box for a living but a friend of mine got me to pick up some Jui Jitsu and got me in his dojo, then he introduced me to some MMA promoters and well here I am.

Phil: So your dad owned a gym. I bet your brothers and father are excited about your success in MMA, are any of them going to be in LA to see your fight?

Alex: Yep, my older brother is always telling me how to improve my boxing, If I screw up anything technique wise with my boxing in a fight he gives me an ear full. They come to all of my fights and are always in the front row. They are definitely coming to my title fight they live in LA. I'm from there actually but I train in Rio because I feel training over there is better for me.

Phil: Yeah it'
