Hello HERO fight fans. This is HERO Weekly News. I'm AJ Nex. This week had just one event, but was it ever a doozy. HERO 45: Fish vs Torrez II was the first pay per view in HERO history. The Malmi Sportshall was packed to the rafters with 5500 rowdy fight fans and another 8851 people watched at home on television.

MMA fans across the globe were excited to watch not one, but two title fights go down. They definitely got their money's worth as they witnessed by far the highest rated event HERO has ever put on.

The sponsorships offered by FinnSubs contined to help HERO fighters. FinnSubs has been a big supporter, so be sure to check them out the next time you are shopping for supplements.

Without further ado, here is what happened at the inaugural HERO PPV event:

HERO 45: Fish vs Torrez II

Undercard:

Rookies and veterans alike did battle on the undercard, trying to get their names in the title picture in their respective divisions.

Middleweights Bingo Steel and Zoran Lippo got things started  Steel's takedown defense allowed him to control the pace and win a decisive, yet uneventful victory.

Natalie Renee scored a third round TKO win in the lightweight division over Phillip Schreiber by using some deadly dirty boxing.

Bantamweight Thiraphon Jr Phuttharaksa took on fellow small man John Dodson and made him tap a mere 25 seconds into the fight.

Another first round submission followed in the lightweight division as Jorge Gurgel put the squeeze on Sven Hjernson and won via guillotine.

Nikolai Jegorowitsch Makarow let his fist fly and caught fellow heavyweight Damien Byrkjelo with a vicious combination and ended the fight in less than thirty seconds

Main Card

Champions, challengers, and top level contenders packed a loaded main card and put on a show that won't soon be forgotten.

Davor Langerholc continued his meteoric rise up the light heavyweight rankings. His devastating ground and pound left Brian Lancer seeing stars.

Lightweight Ingemar Anders moved his name amongst the elite of his division by outboxing Jeremy Truong.

Ruslan Smirnov is now the man everyone is talking about in the bantamweight division. By taking down Martin Huuhkaja and pounding him out, he put his name to the top of the list for a title shot.

The crowd was loud all night, but the building was pure electricity as the ring announcer stepped in to introduce the fighters for the first of the two huge fights of the night.

Our co-main event was a heavyweight title fight between champion Tobias Larsson and challenger Clarence Adams. Adams did a great job boxing in this fight, but Larsson's ability to score takedowns and efficiently use ground striking impressed the judges. He took it by a score of 50-45 on all scorecards to remain the HERO heavyweight champion.

The main event of the evening was a championship fight between reigning middleweight king Albert Fish and the man who he won the belt from: Eddie Torrez . This one was a non-stop flurry of activity. A combined 402 strikes were thrown, leaving these two men absolutely exhausted at the end of five rounds. Torrez cut Fish early in the fight and worked away at it all night. By the end, Fish was wearing the proverbial crimson mask, but manager to make it to the bell without getting stopped. He dished out some serious punishment himself, but couldn't land with the KO power that won him the best in the first place. Eddie Torrez won 50-45 on all three cards and reclaimed the middleweight crown.

Post Fight Press Conference

With such an amazing fight card, the "Of the Night" bonuses were increased to $4000 for this special occasion. Lots of fighters deserved bonuses, but not everyone can get them. In the end, the powers that be decided on these were the best of the best:

KO of the night:
Nikolai Jegorowitsch Makarow

Sub of the night:
Thiraphon Jr Phuttharaksa

Fight of the night:
Eddie Torrez vs Albert Fish

Yours truly also reminded everyone that the HERO Hall of Fame induction ceremonies would take place the following day. The journalists on hand had a lot of questions, trying to determine who the new additions would be, but no hints were given. The press was informed that they would need to check the HERO Hall of Fame induction notice just like everyone else.

Until next time, this is AJ Nex for HERO FC. Happy training and good luck!
