LFL 73 - Watson vs Donovan

Konnichiwa! As heavyweights collide, one of them will walk out of here a champion. "Eye" Ronnie Way here with WayFightsTV and what a great event the LFL has in store. The heavyweight title bout between Mason Watson and Jacob Donovan is scheduled and it looks like it's gonna be a war. Yusuke Nakamura is on the card as well and will be facing off against "The Ant" Nicky Santoro in the co-main event. Swiatlovod/Zbogdanca in a light heavyweight bout on the main card. Also on the main card, Yoshi Doi takes on Frankie Russo in the lightweight division and Assis takes on Gragas in a heavyweight fight.

Main Card Fight

"Super Strength" Kimbo Assis (11-17-1) [3-5 LFL] hasn't had a great run in the LFL but an ever-impressive knockout victory in his last fight puts him back in the fight. And he'll be fighting against jiu-jitsu expert, Vandal Gragas (7-6) [2-2]. Seems like the focal point of this matchup is whether or not Gragas can survive long enough to take the fight down where he has a clear cut advantage. But Assis, I'm sure, won't allow that to happen. I honestly think Assis will knock out Gragas before the fight will hit the ground. Stranger things have happened though.

Prediction:
Kimbo Assis by KO (Rd. 1)

Main Card Fight

Yoshi Doi (7-7) [6-7 LFL] has fought with the LFL his whole career and is determined to make it to the top. But he has to get through Frankie Russo (11-11) [1-0 LFL]! Russo's ground and pound is vicious and the way he handled himself in the rematch against Shinya Aoki, it was incredible. Aoki's ground game would've caught anybody and it did the first time around against Russo but Russo welcomed it. The second fight, he found himself in dominant positions and landed some huge shots. He didn't even seem the slightest bit scared to be in Aoki's dangerous guard. And because of that, I think he has the advantage against Doi. Doi has a decent striking game though but all in all, the fight will definitely hit the mat and Russo will dominate on top. Let's hope Doi has been working on his submission defense.

Prediction:
Frankie Russo by Decision (Rd. 3)

Main Card Fight

Polish fighter, Wszebor Swiatlovod (9-3) [9-3 LFL] is on a roll winning his last two fights in the LFL. The momentum is definitely on his side as his opponent, fellow Polish fighter, Zbyszko Zbogdanca (7-4-1) [1-2-1 LFL], is coming off a draw. Zbogdanca is an insane BJJ player. Not to mention his chin is unbelievable. He took six head kicks in his last fight and it didn't even seem to phase him. I don't forsee a KO against Zbogdanca but if he's on bottom in a bad position, he could lose the fight via decision. Swiatlovod is a great fighter though. Although his striking is very mediocre, he always has a few tricks up his sleeve to get the win. But in the game of odds, I'm going to have to bet against him for this one.

Prediction:
Zbyszko Zbogdanca by Submission (Rd. 2)

Co-Main Event

The co-main event of the night features two all stars of the LFL who are both on a winning streak and both are hungry to have that belt around their waist. Although Yusuke Nakamura (9-3) [9-3 LFL] has never tasted gold, his opponent, "The Ant" Nicky Santoro (11-2) [11-2 LFL] is the only man to ever defeat the current featherweight champion in a very close fight. But the rematch between the two didn't hold the same outcome as the champ fought valiantly to get the belt back where he felt it belonged. Now, Santoro's back on the road to championship and it all starts with this fight. But never count Nakamura out. This guy will find a way to win. I don't know what it is but he has my money on him.

Prediction:
Yusuke Nakamura by Decision (Rd. 3)

Main Event

Mason Watson (12-5) [3-0 LFL] was offered a title fight as soon as he joined the org and has defended it twice. He's now going up against Jacob Donovan (15-11) [0-0 LFL] who is fresh in the LFL and has a shot to do what Mason did when he joined the org. Donovan is an outstanding striker and can probably give Watson some trouble on the feet but he needs to watch out for takedowns to be successful in this fight. But the champ has proven why he's holding the belt and it'll show again against Donovan.

Prediction:
Mason Watson by Submission (Rd. 1)

Undercard

LHW: Psil Ander (16-17-1) [2-4-1 LFL] vs Ollie Ritch (5-5) [4-3 LFL]

Prediction: Ollie Ritch by (T)KO (Rd. 1)

MW: Peter "Fake Arnold" Kent (7-7) [0-0 LFL] vs Angelo "Striker" Villar (8-13) [3-4 LFL]

Prediction: Angelo Villar by (T)KO (Rd. 3)

BW: Hung "Lee" Hang (0-0) [0-0 LFL] vs "The Destroyer" Wasak Ka Sakin (0-1) [0-0 LFL]

Prediction: Hung Hang by Decision (Rd. 3)
