MAIN CARD

Main Event

Lightweight  Title Fight

#1 Tolek Banan (9-1, 2-0 NGF) v #3 Jameson Dredd (7-1, 2-1 NGF)

Toledk Banan, riding a 4 fight winning streak will defend his Lightweight title for the first time since winning the title from Hannibal Butrovic at NGF 25.  Banan is one of the best all around fighters in the NGF.  He can stand toe to toe, take shots and still out point you.  He can also take it to the mat and hold his own, he also can knock someone out with one punch.  Jameson Dredd, who was once known as Vale Karhu was once a champion for the FCC.  He is a fantastic stand up fighter.  He has finished all his wins and he has done it in many ways.  This fight is going to be awesome!  I can’t wait and I really don’t know who has an advantage.  PREDICTION:  Dredd 3rd round TKO.

Co-Main Event:

Bantamweight Title Figh

#1 Arthur Pirozhkov (9-1, 7-1 NGF) v #9 Boris Yurinov (4-2, 2-2 NGF)

The great Arthur Pirozhkov will put his belt on the line against a fighter who I’m not sure deserves a shot just yet in Boris Yurinov.  What’s left to say about Pirozhkov, he wants this fight on the mat and when he’s there he ends fights with a submission, all nine of his wins has been by submission.  Boris Yurinov is very talented, and at just 22 years old, he has a very bright future.  He’s just 2-2 in the NGF, he’s coming off an unimpressive decision win and he has lost once already to Pirozhkov.  Yurinov was simply DESTORYING Pirozhkov, but pulled a Chael Sonnen and Pirozhkov pulled out the submission win.  This will be interesting, a boring champion who just goes for take downs and submissions, and an exciting stand up fighter.  I can’t wait!   PREDICTION:  Pirozhkov, 4st round submission.

Bantamweight Fight

#12 Jonathan Brookins (8-4, 1-2 NGF)v #2 Maksim Zotov (6-1, 5-1 NGF)

Jonathan Brookins will try and move back into the top 10 with a win over Maksim Zotov.  Brookins likes to use his exceptional wrestling skills to get his opponents downs and then uses vicious ground strikes to score major points.  Brookins has good skills, but lacks the finishing power as he has only 3 finishes out of his 8 wins.  Maksim Zotov will certainly be the #1 contender and get the next title opportunity with a win.  Zotov has very good BJJ skills and looks for submissions at every opportunity when the fight is on the ground.  This is a good matchup for him since Brookins likes to work on the mat.  I just think that Zotov’s BJJ skills will be too much for Brookins in this one.  PREDICTION:  Zotov 2nd round submission.

Lightweight Fight

#4 Varshik Gerich (8-1 NGF) v Ryan King (7-2, 1-1 NGF)

NGF’s career leader in wins, Varshik Gerich will step up his competition in this one when he faces Ryan King.  Gerich has 8 wins in the NGF, but he has faced competition all in the lower half of the rankings, his only real test was vs Jameson Dredd which he was brutally beaten in the 1st round.  Varshik can adapt his game well, he can stand up and likes to use hard leg kicks.  He can also grind out a fight on the mat.  Ryan King likes to take opponents down, he is a brown belt in BJJ and can submit just about anyone.  I think this will be a very good fight, Gerich has his work cut out for him and I think King holds a major advantage if the fight gets to the mat.   PREDICTION:  King 2nd round submission.

Heavyweight Fight

#10 Petr Jakovlev (4-1 NGF) v #4 Roman Kowalski (6-4, 3-2 NGF)

Petr Jakovlev will try and move up the ranks with a win over Roman Kowalski.  Jakovlev can knock people out, but not with a stand up game.  He has respectable boxing skills, but make no mistake; Jakovlev is going to win this fight on the ground.  He is exceptional with take downs and can out wrestle anyone.  Once there he rains down doom with hammer fists and punches that usually leave his opponents asleep.  Roman Kowalski is a well-rounded fighter, he’s skills don’t pop in any one area, but he can be a very tough fight for anyone.  He is coming of a fantastic KO of Stanislov Wisnewski at NGF 26 with a head kick.  He can get a little over aggressive and he’s been submitted because of it.  This is a good matchup and can go either way.  PREDICTION:  Kowalski 2nd round TKO.

 PRELIM CARD

Bantamweight Fight

#7 Jon Erik Andersen (9-7, 3-3 NGF) v #16 Stanislav Popovich (5-2, 1-1 NGF)

Jon Erik Andersen will look to get on the plus side of .500 with a win vs Stanislav Popovich.  Andersen is coming off a SOTN victory over Jonathan Brookins at NGF 27.  Anderson loves to use his wonderful Muay Thai skills to soften up his opponents.  He will then try to get a fight to the mat and there he has a brown belt in BJJ.  Stanislav Popovich isn’t the most skilled fighter in the division, but he has heart and will out point you if you aren’t on your game.  He has exceptional boxing skills and that’s his advantage in this one.  He must stay off the ground and try to keep Andersen on the outside.  PREDICTION:  Andersen 2nd round submission.

Light Heavyweight Fight

#16 Vinicius Oliveira (2-2, 2-1 NGF) v #10 Kadir Demir (6-1, 1-1 NGF)

“Vinny” Oliveira will try and get back on the winning ways by beathing Kadir Demir.  Oliveira is coming off a KO loss to Brett Riverboat at NGF 27 on December 1st.  Vinicius has impressive submission defense, he has been able to defend 20 submissions in his NGF career.  Oliveira, although a brown belt in BJJ, rarely goes for a submission, but uses it to reverse and get out of trouble.  Kadir Demir got his first career loss at NGF Fight Night 7, his debut, but rebounded very well with a armbar win at NGF Fight Night 8 over Ivan Zhukov.  I think he’ll want to keep this standing, where he holds a decided advantage.  Although he submitted his last opponent, he has 5 other wins all by T(KO), so I think he’ll look to stay off the mat and look for another rag doll producing punch.  PREDICTION:  Demir 1st round TKO.

Super Heavyweight Fight

#10 Paulo Cesar Silva (2-0 NGF) v #7 Buddy Threadgood (4-2, 3-2 NGF)

This is a case of two fighters going in opposite directions.  Paulo Cesar Silva comes in on a 2 fight winning streak and will move close to the top 5 with another win.  Silva has sensational wrestling, he goes for the take down, usually gets it, then pounds his opponents into submission.  There is no secret to his game, no standup, pure wrestling.  Buddy Threadgood needs a win very badly.  He was having such a great run, 4 wins, KO’ing everyone, but then was viciously KO’ed at NGF 26, and then pummeled by Vladan Perunovic at NGF 29.  He needs to stay standing, he seems to have good take down defensive skills, and is no slouch as far as his BJJ skills, but he has no luck there.  He is a pure puncher and can end this very fast.  I know Threadgoods camp is saying all the right things about his motivation, but he NEEDS to prove it.  PREDICTION:  Threadgood, 1st round KO.

Welterweight Fight

#10 Adam Yauch (4-2 NGF) v #16 Michael Lescott (5-4, 1-1 NGF)

Adam Yauch hopes to make it two in a row by beating Michael Lescott and get back into the title picture.  Yauch rebounded with a win at NGF 25 with a 16 second KO of Roy Blake.  Yauch is very talented, and still very much improving.  He has wonderful boxing skills and dynamite knockout power.  He is very quick and has very good takedown defense skills.  His problem comes if he does get to the mat, he still is out classed there.  Michael Lescott already 28 years old, but only 9 fights on the resume, will try and get this to the mat.  He must do it, because he has no shot against Yauch standing up.  He is a brown belt in BJJ and holds 4 OTN awards, 2 FOTN and 2 SOTN.  This one could be a very good fight!  PREDICTION:  Yauch 2nd round TKO.

Heavyweight Fight

#19 Ivan Kuznetsov (5-2, 2-2 NGF) v #8 Oleg Alekseev (7-4, 3-2 NGF)

Ivan Kuznetsov will try and get a much needed win after a loss at NGF Fight Night 10 to Petr Jakovlev, but he will have a serious opponent that is very mad.  Kuznetsov will change his game plan according to his opponent and he will exploit weakness.  He is well rounded and I think he should try and get inside, clinch up and use his Muah Thai advantage to slow Alekseev.  Oleg Alekseev, oh how the mighty have fallen.  Once thought to be NGF’s best fighter, he has now dropped 2 in a row and needs to correct this situation and now!  Alekseev is a brown belt in BJJ and can simply kill someone if he gets them down.  Here’s the hole in his game, the last two fights, he’s 0-22 in take down attempts, that’s right, 0-22.  And he is showing he does not change his game plan, he will simply keep trying for the take down until he’s exhausted.  People are picking up on this, and they will change their game plan, Alekseev has to change his.  He’s the better fighter in this one, but I’m interested to see if Alekseev will change or if he just keeps going to the take down well.  PREDICTION:  Alekseev 2nd round TKO.
