TTFC Gauge Vs William Preview

Event Preview: TTFC Gauge Vs William
Team Thomas Fight Club
2011-12-24, New York, Hard Knocks - New York
Author:Mike Thomas

He knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows if you've been bad or good so be good or he will slap on an omoplata that will make you cry. Saturday night, fight night!

Light Heavyweight: Tim Crazy (0-0) vs Wayne "The Warrior" Davis (0-1)

Tim Crazy is an entirely unknown quantity as he enters the cage for the first time in his professional career but the word from his camp is that he is first and foremost a grappler. The Warrior will want to show off his Muay Thai skills for the second time as he looks to rebound back from his brutal slam KO to Kamal Silva. In that fight Davis was bullied by the superior wrestling of Silva and that will not have gone unnoticed by Tim Crazy.

Prediction: We have no basis of comparison for these two with a combined record of 0-1 but when in doubt pick the wrestler. Crazy by decision.

Welterweight: Tellus "Telli" Cavinato (2-2) vs Marcos Villapudua (2-1)

Telli Cavinato is a grappler with improving stand up and Villapudua is a striker with improving grappling and that makes for an intriguing scrap at 170lbs. After putting on BJJ clinics in his first two fights Cavinato has struggled of late posting back to back defeats, all be it against far superior opposition. Villapudua pulled off something of a shock with his beautiful head kick KO of Cale Sanders Son in November that had people looking at him in a new light. Whether he is a flash in the pan or legitimate prospect remains to be seen but he will certainly enter this fight full of confidence.

Prediction: Telli has faced better opposition but Villapudua is the better fighter at this stage of their careers. A victory for either man won't be surprising but Villapudua takes it with his superior stand up.

Welterweight: Saint Pierre (12-8) vs Mark Decan (3-2)

Two men with far better skill sets then their records suggest clash in the 3rd bout of the evening with both looking to steady the ship after disappointing losses. Saint Pierre is hugely experienced and hugely talented with an arsenal of fight ending submissions up his sleeves. In Decan he faces another good grappler but one with stand up noticeably superior to his own. Decan's two defeats have come to talented opposition in Alaric Visigoth and James Graves but he looked out of his depth against both. Saint Pierre will look to assert himself throughout as Visigoth and James did, bullying and pressuring Decan and preventing him from enacting his gameplan. Make no mistake, although Decan's hands are not devastating Saint Pierre only wants to throwdown as long as it takes to score the takedown where he will immediately go hunting for limbs.

Prediction: This is a tough fight to call but you have to figure that with Decan's love of the clinch and Saint Pierre's takedowns it will hit the ground, and when it does Decan is in trouble. Saint Pierre by submission in round 1.

Heavyweight: Christian "Bobo" Vieri (6-4) vs James Mcneilly (4-2)

The always entertaining heavyweight division provides our next bout as Bobo Vieri looks to show off his sledgehammer fists once more against slick grappler James Mcneilly. A main stay of TTFC's talent rich heavyweight division, Vieri has carved out a reputation as one of the hardest hitting men around, finishing 5 of his 6 wins with pure punching power. In James Mcneilly he meets a grappler with an eye for the finish, securing all of his wins by submission. These two don't hide where they want this fight to play out but all fights start on the feet and that is bad news for Mcneilly.

Prediction: Mcneilly has been separated from his senses for both his career losses and Bobo Vieri will do the same tonight. Mcneilly goes down for the count before round 2.

Superheavyweight: "Frankenmullet" Brock Samson (4-1) vs Elvis "Regulator" Presley (9-7)

These two never met a fight they didn't like and they look set to collide in a titanic tilt at superheavyweight. Samson had his perfect record dirtied by top contender Robert Baratheon in his last outing but still possesses all the tools required to be a true great. In Regulator Presley he faces a more one dimensional but no less entertaining opponent. Expect these two to meet in the middle, touch gloves and start swinging hard. Both have excellent hands but Samson has the ground game to mix things up if it gets too hot in the kitchen although we may not have time to see it with the high likelihood of someone going down early.

Prediction: Frankenmullet is a legitimate talent with a high career ceiling, he is has too much for Elvis and will punch his way to victory early.

Superheavyweight: "Leviathan" George Kalir (15-9) vs "The Holy Grail" Monty Python (8-6)

Two fights ago George Kalir was just about the scariest dude around, but shocking back to back KO defeats have made Leviathan look human for the first time in a long time. Having finished the fight in all 15 of his wins he remains a forced to be reckoned with but needs an exclamation point win over heavy handed Monty Python to stay near the top of the pack. Brawler Python has found it tough of late going 1-3 in his last four and having been stopped on cuts no less than than 3 times so far in his career. Turmoil in his camp has provided unnecessary distractions for the Monty who comes into the fight needing a win just as badly as Kalir which makes for an entertaining scrap.

Prediction: Python is the perfect match up for Kalir. Respected but not feared he will serve as the launch pad for Leviathan's career renaissance. Kalir stops his man with strikes whilst looking for the submission.

Welterweight: Jorge "Batista" Ayala (12-5) vs "Scramz" Fresh Hamz (14-4)

Fresh Hamz is on a path to title contention but faces another tough obstacle en route. Jorge Ayala is the kind of well rounded and experienced fighter than can give fast risers a nasty fall back down to earth. With slick jiu-jitsu and a serviceable stand up game Ayala is not to be taken lightly by the lightning quick Fresh Hamz. Hamz loves to throw the leg kicks to slow his opponents down whilst picking away at them with fast technical boxing and Ayala needs to get Hamz on the mat to avoid a long painful night in the cage. Ayala has a vastly superior submission game but their wrestling pedigrees are on paper identical. This makes for an interesting and pivotal factor in their fight.

Prediction: For all his grappling prowess, Ayala hasn't actually submitted anyone in his last 13 fights and that doesn't look set to change here as Hamz out boxes and outlasts Ayala all the way to the final bell.

Heavyweight: "The Highlander" Angus McLoughlin (8-1) vs "The Lost Seraphm" Xiomar Halo (6-1)

It seems odd to call a former champion a prospect but at 22 that is what Angus McLoughlin still is, but boy what a prospect! He is one of the top two Heavyweight prospects around right now, alongside his opponent tonight Xiomar Halo. This a huge fight for both these men who look to rebound from their first ever career defeats with a massive win over the other. McLoughlin was two seconds away from surviving round 1 of his first title defence versus Karter Duxx and who knows what could have happened had he made it to round 2. For Xiomar Halo his much talked about achilles heel was finally exposed by Chico Escuela when he locked in a beautiful kneebar to slay the monster. Xiomar Halo is still a scary dude with crippling power but McLoughlin is smart and well rounded. McLoughlin tailors his gameplan to his foe and he knows that he cannot stand and exchange with Halo so look for him to copy the Chico Escuela blueprint.

Prediction: This is going to be a great fight but I like Halo here. McLoughlin is all kinds of talented but he doesn't have the grappling that Chico does and Halo will bully him standing. Halo by TKO in round 2.

Heavyweight: "The Cutter" Karter Duxx (13-6) vs Chico Escuela (13-5-1)

Chico Escuela did what many said couldn't be done last time out in not only beating but finishing the monstrous Xiomar Halo and that will give him a lot of confidence as he tries to win back the belt that was once his. The Cutter always lives up to his name, slicing through opposition with consummate ease, including his first round dispatching of then unbeaten champion Angus McLoughlin. His hands are as good as any heavyweight in TTFC and they have power to go with his speed and technique. With considerable size advantage behind his fists he has the potential to make Chico suffer in their title showdown. But as previously said Escuela is high on confidence and is no stranger to wearing the gold himself. He won't fear exchanging but should try to avoid prolonged periods of doing so. Duxx is not the white belt Halo is and is not mince meat on the floor but Escuela definitely holds a big advantage there.

Prediction: These two are fantastic fighters who certainly merit their positions at the top of the TTFC heavyweight food chain but I fancy Escuela here. He upset the odds last time and can do so again. Taking some damage early but riding out a win in top position from the 3rd round onwards.

Light Heavyweight: Tyson Gauge (19-7) vs "Big Daddy" James William (9-2)

Big Daddy James William arrives in TTFC with a much deserved reputation as a top competitor and a fight finisher. His sensational boxing skills put people to sleep and when they look for an escape to the mat his black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu has them in even hotter water. Only ever stopped on cuts this man could be a superstar here in TTFC but first he has to get pass TTFC's 205lb king Tyson Gauge. Gauge looks to bounce back from a defeat outside of TTFC by defending his belt for the first time. Tyson Gauge has made a career out of putting vicious beatdowns on opponents and the manner of his last defeat will have left a bad taste in his mouth having imposed his will for 4 rounds only to succumb a vicious uppercut out of nowhere in the 5th and final round. When these two clash, expect fireworks and both men to have their chin tested.

Prediction: It's going to be a back and forth affair with scares for both men as well as thrills and spills for the fans but Tyson Gauge is the champion for a reason, taking the late stoppage win by way of strikes.
