EMMA 15 is in the books and what a night it was, from the first fight of the night all the way till the main event, the fighters delivered. Let’s take a look at some of the fights and fighters involved.

(W)Paul Hewson vs (L)Sonny Boom   This fight had everyone on their feet as both those welterweights simply brawled it out. Hewson came out swinging for the fences, trying to catch Boom with punches and takedowns who in turn was counter striking, attacking the legs and looking for the clinch. Boom was stronger and more versatile in the clinch but Hewson surprised everyone by being able to break clinch effectively. The fight was going Boom’s way as he started to connect with significant strikes but Hewson kept coming and landed a haymaker of a hook that stole him the fight at 4:17 of the first round in what ended up being the nights “Knock Out of the night”. Hewson is really confident in his power and rightfully so. The title rematch has already been booked for EMMA 20 and it will be very interesting to see if Boom can avoid Hewson power the second time out.   (W) Fantinaz Del Norte vs (L) Vakeruo Bertoto   The conclusion of the 135lbs tourney was finally upon us as two of EMMAs best bantwamweights fought for position in their division. Bertoto has always been very effective on the ground and managed to take the fight there in the first round but Del Norte held his own on the ground even managing to stand up and land sweeps which made for a very even first round. In the second round Del Norte got his stand up going and was picking Bertoto apart who finally managed to land a takedown later in the round. It was not enough, however, as Del Norte managed to neutralize Bertoto and stand himself back up as well. Whenever they were fighting on their feet, Del Norte managed to win the exchanges. In the third round Bertoto came out strong, looking for the finish and taking Del Norte down early with a strong takedown but once again Del Norte managed to beat him there as well. Del Norte landed a sweep and controlled Bertoto the rest of the fight, even managing to pass guard near the end. Del Norte definetally won the second and third round, maybe all 3, and the judges got the decision right. Now we will most likely get to see Del Norte take on Siyard Jarrah for the 135 title.    (W) Max Ford vs (L) Slim Crowe   This was an important fight for the welterweight division which really got shook up tonight. Max Ford came into round one looking to implement his wrestling which he managed to do with ease. The stand up seemed pretty even but once Ford got the fight down he was relentess with his positioning but not his action. The referee stood the fight up with less than a minute left but that was more time than ford needed to land another takedown and end the round in top position, dominant first round for Ford. In the second round Crowe seemed to be looking to land head kicks and leg kicks while Ford was swinging leather, managing to connect in the process. With Crowe cautious on his feet Ford landed another big takedown, this time into mount. That was the beginning of the end as Ford never lost the mount, punishing Crowe with hard ground and pound. Crowe was tough, hung in there and was looking to get into a better position but after a big elbow it was over and referee stepped in.    The other results of the night are listed below.   185 lbs  How Long DEF Virgil Keller Decision (Unanimous) 3 05:00 185 lbs 3 Osulf Durin DEF Demetrius Colrane - Submission (Triangle Choke) 2 04:59 170 lbs 3 Bobby Digital DEF Jon Fitch - KO (Punches) 1 01:43 145 lbs 3 Johnny Clement DEF Legeha Brandaho -Decision (Unanimous) 3 05:00 185 lbs 3 Matteo Valdini DEF Jones Rampage - Submission (Triangle) 3 04:26 265 lbs 3 The Ultimate Warrior DEF Gamble Jack - TKO (Strikes) 1 03:24
