Syracuse Fighting Championship

Welcome everyone, this Wednesday its finally time for SFC 7: Koon vs Simba. With 10 competitive bouts planned the evening will definitely hold fireworks and there should be something in there for everyone. The event will feature two title fights, although rumour has it that Serrano will most likely miss weight for his title challenge against Fernandez. Let’s take a closer look at some of the fights at the top of the card.

Dan Koon vs Flo Simba

The SFC light heavyweight champ, Dan Koon (4-0), is a submission machine having won his first four pro bouts by submission, taking the belt in his last fight against Butter Bean. He has fairly good wrestling which he uses to take fights down, where he can put his brown belt in BJJ to good use. Flo Simba is the more experienced fighter riding the first 3 fightwin streak of his career. His ground game is lacking offensively as he mainly uses his wrestling to stuff takedowns and his BJJ to defend himself on the ground but his boxing is strong which will make him the much better stand up fighter. Classic striker vs Grappler matchup, Simba has more experience and Koon has yet to face someone who can hang in there and threaten him on the feet.

Pick: Simba via KO

Hugh Jackman vs Lalli Koylio

In the co main event of the evening Hugh Jackman looks to stay undefeated under the SFC banner against Koylio. Jackman (6-1) is a remarkable boxer who has transitioned well into MMA, with 4 (t)kos and ever improving takedown defence, he is a quick up and comer in SFC light weight division. Koylio (2-1,1) is a very solid wrestler with great ground and pound, devastating opponent to have in top of you. After a slow start to his career a submission loss in his debut followed by a NC, he has put two wins together and is looking to make it 3 which would also keep him undefeated under the SFC banner. The big difference in this fight is the boxing, and I think Jackman has the defence wrestling required to deal with a one dimensional fighter like Koylio.

Run Dunca vs Otto the Schlong

This fight sees the return of Run Dunca after his failed title opportunity against Hugh Jackman face off with a young fighter making his promotional debut in Otto the Schlong. Dunca (2-2) got caught in the second round of his title fight and has already stated he wants to work towards that rematch. He will most likely implement his boxing and look to knock his opponent out in order to make a statement. Schlong (0-1) is only `18 years old but brings respectable boxing of his own into the cage. He lost his debut by submission and is glad to get a chance to show his stand up skills against Dunca. Dunca has the better wrestling, but is used to defend takedowns and not shoot from them. This will most likely by settled on the feet and I think Dunca has the edge in boxing and experience.

Pick Dunca via KO

The rest of the fight card includes:

Jason Fernandez v Brian Serrano 170 lbs title

Noel Severino v Nail Grigorovich

Dingo Warrior v Dick Throttle

Luis Mejias v Rocky Sullivan

Manny Paqiuo v Mauricio Bordin

Frankie Gambini v Reiko Saito

Nazir Rasuradorov v Doc Evi
