Event Preview: HMMA 55 Barnes V Kirijenko
HEROIC
2013-01-19, London, Camden Conference Centre
Author:

Hello everyone im “Sunshine” Weston Markson with my partner Rudy” The Box” Knife, and we are here to preview HMMA 55 and 56.  On Saturday and Sunday HMMA once again takes over London to bring to you two great events, 20 fights and 40 fighters inside the Heroic Mixed Martial Arts cage.

Rudy:  Well thank you Weston for making us look like a couple, once again you have outdone yourself in stupidity and moronicness.   Anyway on to more important things.  Saturday HMMA brings to you a big event  with lots of up and coming stars, guys who are in the top 10 of their divisions looking to gain ground and get closer to a title shot, and on Sunday the card is just as good as we have great prospects, and even a Hall of Fame fighter gracing the card.  Its going to be huge and I for one am very excited.

Weston:  Chill Rudy don’t get out of your seat the world doesn’t need to know just how excited you are, but your right this weekend is going to be huge lets get into the Main events of the weekend.

MAIN EVENTS

HMMA 55

#7 "The Great" Nate Barnes (21-12) v  Lyov Kirijenko

Weston:  On Saturday these two top ten or near top 10 talents will step inside the cage and look to gain ground on the rest of the division.  Barnes on a two fight win streak and 2-1 in HMMA is making a name for himself in the stacked 205lbs division he has let it be known before that he wants an opportunity at the Light-heavyweight title, and a win here gets him closer to that opportunity I have been told he is 2-3 wins away, if he takes care of business and continues his success he may very well find himself fighting for a championship soon.  Similar circumstances for Kirijenko as he also comes into this fight 2-1 in HMMA, after splitting wins with a loss.   Kirijenko’s only loss comes from one of the top 3 fighters in the division it was a small setback that put him just outside the top 10.  With a win here Kirijenko could get back on track and restart the argument for a opportunity at the championship down the road.

Rudy:  These two fighters meet in a high stakes title eliminator fight with the winner only 2-3 wins away from a shot at the title, and the loser a step back.  In this stacked division a loss here is a huge setback that could temporaritly put the loser out of the title picture.  Barnes and Kirijenko both look for the knockout when they get into the cage, however they do so im different methods.  Kirijenko likes wrestling his opposition to the ground and pounding on them until they go unconscious while Barnes prefers to keep the fight standing and look for the knockout.  Barnes has 18 (t)KO’s and Kirijenko has 9, so it’s a safe bet to say one way or another this fight will end with one man going to sleep.

Prediction:  This fight will be all about who lands the first shot and who implements their gameplan if Barnes keeps it standing I like him to win, if Kirijenko gets it to the ground I think he takes it.

HMMA 56

Liam Machin (9-5) v  Seany Scholes (7-6)

Weston:  The main event of HMMA 56 brings us Hall of fame fighter and former lightweight champion Liam Machin as he takes on Seany Scholes who has been on a roll.  After losing his first 3 HMMA fights Seany has managed to turn his career around winning 3 out of his last 4 fights now he takes a step up in competition as he takes on former champion and Hall of Famer Liam Machin, Machin coming in off a loss in a what was a rematch with a man had beat earlier, despite that loss Machin remains a dangerous force at lightweight able to win a fight at any moment.

Rudy:  This fight like all Machin fights will be fantastic! Scholes has been on a roll lately and I cant wait to see if he continues and moves towards the front of the division.  He has a real chance which gets better if he can get Machin to the ground 6 out of 7 wins by Sholes have been by submission, will the slick ground fighter get another submission win?  Not if Machin has anything to say about it, Machin looking to get back into the top of the division himself can do so if he is able to get his hands on Scholes 7 out of 9 of Machin’s wins have come by (t)KO Sunday Liam will be looking to make it his 8th.  In a classic fight between striker and grappler who comes out on top?

Prediction:  The winner is the one who fights the fight where they want it.

CO-MAIN EVENTS

HMMA 55

"Timothy Of The Night" Timo Yo (12-6) v  Glenn "Destroyer" Stroud (8-4)

Weston:  HMMA’s CO-MAIN EVENT is a fight between two guys in the bottom of the top 10 of the welterweight division.  The winner a step forward and a few wins away from a clash with the champion.  Both of these fighters come in having won 4 out of their last 5 fights, both have looked great only losing to top competition recently.  This has become a highly anticipated fight between two great welterweight fighters, so who takes the step forward and strengthens their resume?

Rudy:   This fight is the one I am most looking forward to of the entire weekend, I cant wait to see the outcome this fight is building and im excited!  These two guy are so evenly matched they are nearly identical.   Out of the 20 wins between these two fighters 15 have come by way of (t)KO, this Is just my kind of fight two guys going into the cage and looking to take the others head off.

Prediction:  I expect a close fight I could see a draw even hopefully not I have Stroud by a floss thin decision.

HMMA 56

Mr  "The Gay" Gray (17-11-2)  v  Mike "The Deer Hunter"  Vallely

Weston:  The CO-Main event of HMMA 56 is a Middleweight fight between two guys in the middle of the division looking to get their careers back on track after highly promising starts.  Gray was once one of the best fighters out there, but recently has fallen on hard times with five straight losses, an a TKO loss in his first appearance inside the HMMA cage.  Vallely also was once a highly touted prospect who found rough patches in his career with 4 losses in his last 6 fights he could use a win here to get his once highly promising career back on track.    Two great fighters looking to get their careers back on track, Sunday one of these two men do just that getting a much needed win.  Whose it going to be?

Rudy:  Well Weston soon ill tell you who I think that will be but for now lets talk about these two great fighters.   Despite recent woes both of these men are very dangerous.  Both of these guys have the ability to win the fight wherever it takes place however they both tend to win by (t)KO.  This is going to be a very interesting fight between two very hungry middlweights.

Prediction:  I think Gray wins this fight in a very close fight I wouldn’t be surprised if both men get rocked.
