 Fight Night 4 Preview

Steel Penn Fighting Temple is proud to announce it’s fight card for Fight Night 4 hosted at Hayashi’s Lounge in London on Wednesday, February 13th.  We have a stacked ten fight card for this event which includes two (You heard right, that’s TWO) title fights in the Middleweight and Lightweight divisions.  The Main Event features your Middleweight Champion Elmo Elmo putting his belt on the line against veteran Sepp Maier.  The Co-Main Event of the evening will see two relative newcomers to MMA collide in our first of two title fights as Horacio Vanderbeet looks to dethrone current champ Jon Snow in the Lightweight division.  The rest of the eight fights in store feature a great mix of veterans and new blood that look to excite the crowd on their way to MMA supremacy.  Only one question remains…Are You Ready?

265+ lbs: Datsik vs Dos Santos

Muay Thai specialist Kru “Lam” Datsik (0-0) appears to be up against it in his first professional fight as the 25 year old will have a slight experience disadvantage against 24 year old Junior “Cigano” Dos Santos (1-1).  Dos Santos comes into the fight off of a loss by decision after winning his first fight by TKO in the first round.  He’ll most likely be looking to let his fists fly while avoiding the kicks of Datsik in search of his second (T)KO victory.  Datsik, despite a height and weight advantage (41 lbs heavier walking weight), will want to keep the fight standing and use his Muay Thai background to score a surprise victory.

265+ lbs: Sylvia vs Mardukas

The second fight of the evening pits Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia (1-0) against Hank Mardukas (0-2).  Mardukas hasn’t seen the second round of a fight yet in his young career, losing his first two fights by way of (T)KO in the first round, including a loss to SPFT’s own Dos Santos in the QFC.  Sylvia came back to win his first and only fight by way of decision after losing the first round according to the judges.  This is another fight that looks set to stay standing where the fighters seem to be on level terms, though if it does go to the ground Sylvia should have a slight advantage.

185 lbs: Irracha vs Lotus

29 year old Zach Irracha (13-13) faces off against Tommy “Lights Out” Lotus (21-27-2), 32, in our third match.  Irracha will look to break a dismal 7 fight losing streak, whereas Lotus will try to continue a 4 match unbeaten run. Both men match up well in all areas of a fight, though Lotus has 5 submission victories notched up Irracha has proven difficult to submit, only losing 2 fights by tapout.  Both men have shown good standup, with just under half of their wins coming by (T)KO.  What remains to be seen is how their respective fight streaks will come into play.  Will confidence from recent success see the more experienced Lotus to a win, or is Irracha’s determination to snap a losing streak strong enough to pull him through?

185 lbs: Alliance vs Monkey

The Steel Penn Alliance (2-0) takes on “Toe” Camel Monkey (3-0) in a fight that sees both fighters putting their undefeated records on the line.  Alliance comes into the fight winning his first two by way of (T)KO in which his devastating head kicks played a factor.  He last fought in Fight Night 2 against Gargole Fones, winning by ref stoppage in the second round.  Monkey makes his SPFT debut riding a three win streak of which two came in the final second of the first round.  His third fight finished early in the second round, leaving him with two submission victories and one (T)KO.   In an exclusive interview, the 25 year old Monkey said of 18 year old Alliance: “I’m going to get him to the ground and go ape sh*t on his ass.”

265+ lbs: Barak vs Smirnov

In our 5th bout of the night, Israeli Matanel “Matan” Barak (1-1), 20, takes on 23 year old Russian and SPFT newcomer Busta “Snake” Smirnov (1-0).  Neither fighter has gone the distance in a fight, making this fight all the more interesting as they both seem to be fairly evenly matched.  Smirnov will have the height advantage, though Barak tasted defeat his last time out on Fight Night 2 against Jake Person so is sure to be determined to make an impression in his second SPFT fight.

185 lbs: Anderson vs Slayer

SPFT’s resident transvestite, MMA’s first and only, Pamela “Airbag” Anderson (22-9), 31, is up against 24 year old Dragon Slayer (3-2-1) in the 6th match.  Anderson is the far more experienced fighter, racking up an impressive record by going the distance and earning a decision win in most of his fights.  After a poor start to his career, Slayer has won his last three fights and the hot prospect will look to keep that streak going in his SPFT debut.  Anderson won Fight of the Night in a decision win over Irracha during Fight Night 2.

155 lbs: Zaha vs Khoury

Marvin “Lightning Speed” Zaha (0-1), 22, comes into this fight off of a knock out loss in round 1 against Norman Hartnell in Fight Night 2.  His opponent will be 34 year old veteran Shannon “The Bandit” Khoury (9-17-1)  who has lost his last two fights in SPFT to Javier Hernandez and Norman Hartnell in Fight Night 2 and Fight Night 1, respectively.  This fight is almost guaranteed to not go the distance as only one of their 28 combined fights ended in a decision.  Khoury has a distinct height advantage, coming in at 17 cm taller than his opponent.

155 lbs: Staz vs Reaper

“Snazzy” Laz Staz (0-3) faces off against “Death” Grim Reaper (1-1)  in the SPFT Lightweight division in our final undercard matchup.   Staz will be looking for redemption in this fight after losing his first three fights by Unanimous Decision.  Reaper on the other hand is looking to bounce back from a submission loss in the Lightweight Title fight in round 1 to Jon Snow during eM 135 after an impressive Fight of the Night Decision win over Ross Spong during Fight Night 1.  These youngsters, Staz being 21 and Reaper 25, are sure to leave it all in the cage in an attempt to kickstart their careers.

155 lbs LIGHTWEIGHT Title Bout: Vanderbeet vs Snow

“The ‘arbinger” Horacio Vanderbeet (6-3) is the challenger of Jon Snow’s (3-2) SPFT Lightweight Championship belt in the Co-Main event of the night.  Vanderbeet has been impressive in his time with SPFT, fighting 9 times and picking up 2 Submission of the Night awards and a Knockout of the Night award.  In Fight Night 2 he bounced back from two straight losses in a Decision win over Apollo Youngblud to set up this title fight.

Snow has made an immediate impact on the SPFT hierarchy by fighting twice and receiving two Submission of the Night awards including his last time out where he won the title in eM 135: King’s Crown by submitting Grim Reaper in the first round.  All three of his wins have come by way of submission and all in the first round.  When prompted about the possibility of a chess match on the ground, Snow said, “I’m definitely better on the ground, but who says I’ll let it get there?  I’m going to knock him out in the first round.”

185 lbs MIDDLEWEIGHT Title Bout: Elmo vs Maier

In your Main event of the evening, Elmo “Elmo” Elmo (6-3) attempts to defend his title against challenger Sepp “Sub” Maier (27-19).  The more experienced Maier, 29, looks to make an immediate impact on his SPFT debut being thrust into the cage against the best SPFT has to offer in the Middleweight division.  Maier has undoubtedly earned his nickname with 24 of his 27 wins coming by way of submission while picking up 8 Submission of the Night Awards with previous organizations.

25 year old Elmo is going to do everything he can to ensure Maier doesn’t take a page out of his book by winning in his first SPFT fight.  Elmo won the title in his very first SPFT fight with a TKO win over Zach Irracha during Fight Night 1 in impressive fashion picking up the Knockout of the Night award along the way.  In his only title defense he made quick work of Dat Sik with a straight KO with only a second remaining in the first round during Fight Night 2.  Of his 6 career wins, 5 have been by (T)KO.

This match is your classic knockout artist vs submission king bout and one that is guaranteed to delight fans.  Will the experience and ground game of Maier prove too much for the current champ, or will Elmo once again excite the crowd with another knockout win to remain your Middleweight Champion?
